Urgent: My Galaxy S2 suddenly stopped working, keeps self-rebooting and dying.
So my Galaxy S2 (Telus T989D model) was working fine.
Then all of a sudden, it reboot itself. And it tried to restart but kept crashing and it would reboot itself again, and again and again.
The phone vibrates each time as it tries to reboot.
Eventually, I just took the battery out and waited about 2 minutes.
When I place the battery in, the phone automatically starts up again,
without me needing to press the power/on button.
And it would maybe get to the "S" splash screen before it crashes again
and reboots itself over and over again.
ALSO:
When I plugged in my phone with the USB charger, with NO battery inside,
The phone tries to boot up on it's own, but the screen stays blank (off)
as the phone just vibrates over and over again as it tries to restart itself.
What's going on???!!
I already tried blowing on the battery connector and the phone connector to make sure
there's no debris or anything
(although the phone stopped working when the battery lid was on, so nothing could have gone inside anyway).
Quite urgent, as I'm going on a trip Tomorrow morning for the long weekend.

So more likely a battery issue and not the Phone?
Cause I don't think the phone is supposed to start up on it's own when a battery is placed in...
Or does the phone just start vibrating when a usb charger inserted without a battery in the phone.
I'm more worried about losing my data.
I'm willing to fork out the price for a new battery if needed.
How much does the Telus store charge for a new battery?

I would test it out with a friend, but not much time left.
And hard to contact people fast without a phone, or their contact number, which is in the phone. lol... (suddenly realized how crippled I am now)
I figured if I bring it to a retail store, they can diagnose it and won't sell me a battery unless that is the real issue.
Has anyone else had a battery issue with the phone reacting like this before?

honestly doesn't sound like a battery problem. batteries usually don't fail. if it did fail, then your phone wouldn't be trying to boot. it wouldn't have the power to do so. i suggest you go to telus and see if u have warranty left. Posted via RS Mobile
lol thats exactly what happened to my s3,
brought in for warranty still waiting to get the phone back.
if you login to your gmail account you can find all your contacts that was on your phone, if you synced it.
I think my Warranty is only 1 year...
Seems like I'm gonna get screwed.
After doing some research, I think it's a power faulty issue.
Like the power button is stuck (internally) and it keeps rebooting the phone.

^ yeah thats what i read too
that or the motherboard,
you could try and check out some cellphone repair places.
but the s2 isn't worth much now either, you can probably grab another one on craigslist for like 200.
Is it 1 year for everywhere? Or is Telus just being cheap?
I went to the retail store, and they basically told me the same thing.
Phone isn't worth much anymore.
Since warranty is gone, the money I'm forking out to get it analyzed and repair might just end up costing me more than getting another phone.

I've noticed this issue too with my Rogers S2 LTE. I thought it was Whatsapp that was causing it cause it seemed like every time the phone would reboot over and over again, 9/10 I had just used Whatsapp.
But yea, it would restart over and over again. Sometimes I would plug in the charger, and it would start power cycling itself over and over until I pulled off the battery.
if you bought it outright at telus with a credit card, most credit cards do provide an extra year of manufacturer warranty. but i doubt you did so........worth a shot to bring this up. Posted via RS Mobile
