BUYING HIGH MILEAGE RSX -S? GOOD OR BAD ??? HELP!!!!!

Hey guys, Looking in, into purchasing a rsx type S. This one is an 03, with 140 XXX on it. This is not a rebuilt, and car looks fine to me. The person is selling it for 8900, is that considered a good deal? or a bad deal. Was thinking if I can haggle it down to 7500-8g. What do you guys think. Help!!!!

but what do you guys think though =/ for a k20 engine how far does it usually go up to before it dies or gives up on life. I never bought a second hand vehicle, but I'm just skeptical of how if I buy it at 140 and it breaks down at 150 XXX that is a big gamble I'm taking ><, so just want to know approx how long this life span will take me too "if" i do get something like this or similar scenario?

It's a Honda engine so if it's been well maintained it should easily go past 200,000 KMs. If you're really interested, get a trusted mechanic to inspect if for you.

get a compression & leak down test done. 140k is actually pretty low for a 03 rsx-s... most of them ive seen are close or way over 200k

if you're really worried, go and get a compression test done.

I've bought a 02 rsx-s at 180k and drove it till 230k before it was totaled. Had no engine problems what so ever, acuras/hondas are known to be pretty reliable.

if the seller can provide a good maintenance history, then take it for inspection, else don't consider this car if you are not a risk taker.

i bought an ep3(civic with base rsx engine) with 120k on it, the seller showed me all the records, including claims, then had it inspected, turns out great. have the car for almost a year, only fixed a few minor things. i'm expecting to keep it for another 10 years(or another 100k on it) at least.

a guy on RS told me (half a year ago) his coworker selling his 05 60000KM RSX-S Pearl White no accid all maintained at Rmd Acura for $12K and my friend bought it

So I think for a 03 140K KM you can easily do 7.5K even 7K

also 140K KM is not that high.

however, if its not japanese car, lets say BMW or BENZ, depend if the owner has records, I wouldn't even touch the car if it goes beyond 100K KM and that's when the car usually drop it's value a lot (pass 100K KM)

If you are worried, go BCAA for car inspect, $200, they will even let you know if the price you are paying worth it or not. Or just visit any Acura dealership for inspection for the same price but I recommend BCAA.

I think what most people are getting at is, if the maintenance was done correctly and on time, then the number of km's is not that big of a deal. 140K is not much, but if the maintenance was not done at the right intervals then the car is fucked even with only 30K km's

Not all japanese cars are AS reliable though. As much of a fan of imports, it pains me to say that older Mitsubishis and Subarus also have their fair share of problems.
