Above posters are right, I hit a wheel chock from a tow truck at night time in my MR2 once while changing lanes on the leadup to Knight Bridge, blew my rear passenger tire out and bent my brand new Gram Lights wheel... it was a black block on a black road... I call ICBC... they told me too bad single vehicle accident if you claim it you lose your free accident.

I ended up not claiming it and buying a new wheel myself. They said if I had said the wheel chock had fallen off the tow truck in front of me that's different... but because it's already on the road --> single vehicle collision.

Hooray for insurance encouraging honesty.

How the heck did it crack your bumper? You hit pylons all day long in autocross and they don't leave anything that doesn't wax off.

I cracked a hard ABS plastic splitter hitting an autocross cone at ~90kmh...

its almost like they should make the pylons bright orange with reflective tape on them so you can see them

edit: the joke was already made. whatever its a good one :D

You may not be at fault de facto, but you are at fault de jure (by law) even if it isn't fair or right. Someone needs to pay out but the system isn't gonna work in your favour if you're gonna try to fight the city.

your vehicle collided with a stationary object that was there to be seen, therefore considered a collision claim. You will pay your collision deductible, if you carry such coverage, and your insurance premiums/Claims Rated Scale will likely be affected.

what were you required to know when you have the debris from the truck hit you? Or better yet what were you asked when you went that route with ICBC?

I had a gravel truck lose part of its load in front of me after it hit a bump in the road (the top cover wasn't on, which it was supposed to be). Never got the plate number, so I filed it under a comprehensive claim due to flying debris. Didn't need any more information on it, though the body shop did inspect the damage to verify that it was consistent with the story I told them.

lmao OP's story sounds exactly like the first video on this clip:

I dont understand what you mean.
Just tell them what happen then they make their verdict

If you got the trucks license plate then you have a chance of not paying the deductible
