Need to learn manual. will pay for a lesson.
 

hey guys ive been driving trucks all my life and therefore have yet to try and learn stick. Im just looking for one or two lessons for about 45 mins each. obviously not on busy roads as I would be driving your car. i have a perfect driving record, and am willing to pay 40 an hour.

if anyone is interested in making some easy money text me at 7 seven 8 eight 9 nine 8 six 5 nine.

im free all weekend or any time during the week.

need to learn as I am contemplating an r33 gtr.

Buy a beater for a few hundred bucks and sell it after.

I saw a car in Vancouver from Shifting Gears Driving School, with a sticker on the back, stating it had a "student driver learning manual - may stall".

Never had any experience with them, but this might be what you're looking for.

Best advice would be to just buy a manual car, and learn as you go. Don't think anyone is willing to risk clutch and tranny for $40.

do you have friends that drive manual? If yes, buy the r33, get your friends to bring it home, then learn on it yourself.

tbh i dont think its a bad deal, i dont have a car i would let someone drive, but i have taught many friends with a simple rule: clutch then gas, meaning clutch out first, clutch in first, none of this "rev then let the clutch out" once someone learned to control the clutch they can get used to giving it some gas.

my friend bought an SIR on my lunch break at work, i taught him in a parking lot while on break and he drove the car home, simple stuff, best to find a family member or something cuz if something does go wrong with a car it may cost you more than $40/h

The problem is a clutch on most cars is around $1000 to have replaced (labor is ridiculously expensive) so your $40 an hour for your two hours of lessons is about 8% of a clutch job... Not even getting started on potential transmission damage.

theres really not that much that someone can teach you..
understand the basics of getting started from a stop and changing gears (look it up on the internet), and then get in a car and practice starting over and over.

i'd say just do it on your own car like everyone else, or ask a friend who has a manual car.
i would definitely not pay some stranger to 'teach' me how to drive stick. he probably wont have much to say other than 'dont grind the shit out of my clutch'

If you know how to teach someone to drive manual they're not gonna burn out your clutch unless they dont know how to listen to simple directions. I dont have any of my manual cars on the road right now so I'm no help to you.

i learned how to drive manual right before i purchased my first used vehicle. my friend taught me on the test drive and i was able to drive it home. was it sketchy? hell yeah it was , but i did make it home and i did get better at it.

it's probably best to do what i did or ask a friend with a beater.

Look around at some rental car companies and see if they have the odd manual transmission vehicle laying around :fullofwin:

I have taught many people how to drive manual, and none of them have burned abused my clutch too badly, a few stalls here and there, but for the most part, I have them go in an empty parking lot and just have their right foot on the break and left foot on the clutch and for 15-20min just try to feel the engagement point of the clutch, once they are comfortable with that, the rest is quite easy.

dam only if i still had my integra beater.. and as for shifting gears driving school, i can vouche for her. its an elderly woman who teaches u however, the price is pretty expensive per hour.

I learned the basics on an old beater. Learned the rest a few months later when I got a job working at a car dealership. (and no it was not on new cars, I actually practiced some more on one of their shitty car wholesale cars when I had free time.)

i kind of had an idea how to based on youtube and other research but i didn't do it yet in a car, so i bought a manual car, stalled it once, but i got it rolling by just knowing that there's an engagement point and i've been driving stick since!

I also did this, bought it and my dad drove it home, then we went to a fairly steep hill and practised just moving a few feet trying not to roll back/stall. the next day I drove it to work.

Fck it, pay me, I'll drive it home for you, and you can learn yourself LOL

When we were teaching my friend I found the best way was to just let him figure it out. The obvious advice can be found on the internet, and the rest is CAR DEPENDENT and SELF ADJUSTING. So I can teach you on the Evo and you would likely burn the clutch on a VW because clutch setups vary from car to car. The mechanic of driving manual is most rewarding when self taught.

buy manual car and sell anything autotragic. You will learn and ace it within a month. Thats what I did.

I never had anyone teach me, I bought mine and stalled it a few times on the way home and that's just how you learn.

I went to shitty dealerships and test drove their cars.

With no instruction whatsoever, I figured it out within 20 mins.

My only previous experience with manual, was being a passenger, and watching.
Fast forward 2 years, and I bought my S13. Had to figure it out pretty quickly. Drove it back to Van from Surrey.

I could teach you in your car. Should only take an hour.
