2014 BMW X5

Pictures have been released for the upcoming X5. Not sure what is up with BMW trying to make there 3s and 5s look a like. Originally thought those were pictures of an X3.

edit: Looks to have taillights taken straight from an X3 (except without that small chunk at the bottom) and overall body looks a lot like an X3. Sorry, can't post other pictures but you guys can check the link for the rest of the pics.

:lol I'm glad I'm not the only one. I personally like the current X5. First gen X5 was a bit too boxy imo. However the C pillar looks to pay homage to the first gen's which I think is a sorta nice touch.

Marshall Placid 05-29-2013 04:31 PM

I like the current gen X5 a lot more, in terms of looks.

The next-gen looks a little boxy (or boxier than the current X5).

I don't think BMW changed much of the styling cues from the current gen X5.

If anything, this could be called a "face-lift" instead of a new redesign.

ShadowBun 05-29-2013 04:33 PM

Same here. Current gen looks more... 'muscular'

Kidnapman 05-29-2013 04:36 PM

Yeah I'm not sure if it's just me, but the pictures sorta give the kidney grill a much small look to it. Could that be what's making it look soft?

Szeto 05-29-2013 04:50 PM

yeah when i saw it on autoblog i was like that the new x3? sweet!

Waiting for m sport pkg pics.

Harvey Specter 05-29-2013 06:49 PM

I don't think it looks that bad but the 0-60 for the top model is pretty nice.

Gridlock 05-29-2013 06:59 PM

I'm not a BMW "fan" per se. There are some bimmers that I see that are fucking hot, but I go on with my day.

That said...why the fuck do all these multitude of different models that I'm sure are needed and relevant look the exact same?

The next news you will see out of BMW will be their realization that they need to consolidate models.

M50 d

When the hell is BMW gunna bring over the diesel M models!!!

v_tec 05-29-2013 08:21 PM

Regardless of how it looks, it will still sell like hot pancakes in Richmond...

tiger_handheld 05-29-2013 08:41 PM

why does that Msport have so much wheel gap =\

everyone knows BMW's are never taken off road-ing.. The most it sees is a curb or a house or a storefront in Richmond

this M50d has caught my attention, hp? torque?

Szeto 05-29-2013 08:58 PM

wouldn't the fog lights relocate on m sport pkg? and the M don't even come w/ fogs i thought?

Previous model X5 M D produced 381 hp and 546 ft/lb of torque. Sprints to 100 in 5.4 secs. Sick car.:smug:

I think what it's missing is the bulges for the fenders that gave the previous gen's that muscular look. I imagine the new one, the whole body is a little bigger now.

agreed.

if ain't broke don't fix it.

too_slow 05-29-2013 10:32 PM

Just like the Ranger Rover, they've somehow softened the exterior by heeeeaps. The current gen is one of the boldest/chisseled looking suv in its class.

looks like they shrunk the truck and it has shed some weight....

following the same trend as what the cayenne did.

X5 now looks like a 120% X3 in the rear.... and they put the front end together from bmw parts bin and glued on a bigger grill...
