AWD and shaving tires Hey guys, Buddy has a mercedes C300 4matic and one of his front tires has a bulge on the sidewall. He wants to replace it and his tires have about 16,000km on them. Is he best to replace both front tires? Or should he only replace the damaged tire? I was thinking he should replace the one tire and shave it. Any recommendation or places that can shave down the new tire? thanks:D |
16k should be fine without shaving just remember to get the exact same tire tho at 16k he might be able to get warranty from benz if he brought it brand new |
Order replacement tire from Tire Rack. They can shave it before delivery. Don't count on any local. There is almost none willing to shave tire. Search Kal Tire In Chilliwack if you want to shave it locally. I posted a reply last year about tire shaving. Need to Replace One Tire on Your Subaru? 4matic, he should be replacing all 4 tires, his tires could be close to half worn at 16000km |
What kinda driving are you doing to make them half worn at 16,000km? |
With some Bridgestone's tread wear rating of 140AA (according to tire rack), i'm sure 16,000 km would easily be worn to less than 50% |
The difference in diameter would be negligible and not necessitate shaving. |
