I like this Corolla. Something edgy, I think it will be successful and steal a lot of Civic customers.

I like this iteration. it seems to be a big step forward in the right direction

first and foremost, I cant believe you guys got me into defending a corolla LOL

and for those of you who talks about its either the shitty 4-speed autobox and or the simulated 7speed CVT, you guys can opt for a 6 speed manual, its no mazda 3, but the box aint horrible either...

Akinari, the interior looks much better, and I dont think its that bad, now Ive had regular experiences with a 2010 Camry and a 2012 Venza premium. The interior isnt anything to write home about, but they are far from crappy and cheap. The camry is decent and functional. The Venza I would even say is a bit lexus-y if I dare say.... I feel ballin just sitting in shot-gun... ofc the 40K plus sticker is like a base EVO or STi lol....

I dont know, if this gen corolla is anything like the Venza interior material/quality wise then I think toyota actually got something competitive again =P

I like. It's going with the time.

Shorn 06-09-2013 06:10 PM

you guys must be joking, that is definitely purple if I've ever seen purple.

Either that or I'm color blind..

Brb gonna do some color blind tests

this can look pretty good with a drop to rid that eyesore of a wheel gap

I can imagine someone hitting a speed bump too hard and destroying the front bumper on this new corolla. nothing but thin plastic crap on the front end. I'd rather have the bigger bulgier lower lip that actually did something.

It's like Hyundai a few years ago. Their interior quality was horrendous, but their design made you overlook the cheapness. Toyota not only looks cheap and feels cheap, it ACTUALLY is cheap.

Toyota hasn't made nice interiors since the 92 Camry. That was when Toyota actually cared about making good cars instead of cashing customer's cheques.

To which I replied, "Nope, it's a Forte".

She didn't believe me until we pulled up and she saw the badge. But they totally don't copy designs

twitchyzero 06-09-2013 11:38 PM

being Korean I'm surprised she didn't claim the Japanese copied them :ifyouknow:
like how some claim sushi originated from Korea

My friends aren't idiots.

...well, not all of them.

Did anyone see the new corolla in person? Such a transition...Looks soooooo much better.....maybe better than a civic too.

egh. still a little plain. should still do good in taxi, rental and bodyshop loaner fleets.

are the corolla and mazda 3 competitors? i find myself liking the new one that just came out:

Read a couple reviews of the new Corolla. It's worse than the old Corolla in every possible test in terms of pure numbers, acceleration, braking, slalom, etc.

twitchyzero 10-02-2013 11:09 AM

i saw a base model from the rear in person...reminds me of an echo sedan

because those are pretty important factors for 95%+ of the potential 'rolla owners?

dared3vil0 10-02-2013 11:20 AM

^ Doesn't change the fact that it's literally worse in every way.

Timpo 10-02-2013 11:41 AM

Mazda 3 looks better

Saw one at one of the Toyota showrooms the other day. The front looks a lot better in person than it does in pictures.

Keep in mind that the majority of Corolla drivers only care about the price and reliability, not performance numbers or how wild it looks.

But if it did, I'm sure it would still attract car enthusiasts that are looking for daily drivers.

... which is why we can thank companies like mazda for giving us the mazda 3.

but unfortunately toyota will be the one raking in the cash because the corolla will appeal to a much larger market that only cares for something reliable that goes from A to B and nothing else (like lomac said), while mazda remains a small company that is still searching for a bigger partner now that ford has cut them loose.

it's not fair :(

Akinari 10-02-2013 02:04 PM

The new Corollas actually look great, especially the S models. I saw one driving by the other day on the street (as opposed to seeing them up close at the dealership I work at) and it looks remarkably sporty, tons more road presence.

So at least in the style department, Toyota hit the spot.
