41 Camping Hacks That Are Borderline Genius

Some we have seen over and over and over again, but there are a few new and cool ideas :)

ehhh... a couple are useful and cool.. most seem to be made for the car camper types. I was expecting something else :P

done those all at one point or another.

the first one with the puzzle piece foam mats is genius though, i usually throw down spruce boughs under my tent but this seems way better lol!

the puzzle piece idea was new to me too lol!

camping season is year round :D

only ones I use from there are the toilet (sometimes) and the matches with sandpaper.

all food is basically hot dogs bacon and beer and chips.

if your going camping in a large group, buy a cheap rake from home depot, cut the curved tips off, and voila, you got yourself a 40 prong weenie roaster :p

Been doing the Puzzle Pieces on the bottom of the tent for a few years now. Usually in cold months where I would have the puzzle pieces on the bottom and have my self inflating sleeping pad on top.

i think i may have seen them at daiso before. ikea probably would be another option.

They also sometimes carry grey ones in Auto Motive section and Sporting goods with the workout equipment. Bit more expensive than the kids play mats.

*** Update, Was in Walmart and the grey ones that can be found in Automotive department are $11.97 as well.

the sandpaper match trick works great but only if you use fine grit sandpaper. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of matches with their heads sanded off lol

Fuck camping ..too much work and way too cold at night...I'd rather go to Mexico

I think going to mexico is alot more work than camping to be honest.

I throw my gear in my truck and just drive off to the woods. Goin to Mexico, i have to find someone to watch my dog, make sure someone can collect my mail while i'm gone (since its a short period no point applying for a mail hold from canada post), drive to the airport, check my bags, pass security, fly in a cramped space for long hours, get off the plane, pick up my bags, shuttle to the resort/hotel, etc...

Usually its about 30-35 degrees during the day where i camp and about 10-15 degrees at night (july-august). Pitching the tent is pretty easy to do and so is setting up camp for the most part.

I usually have a small fire going during the day and light a large fire at night. If you use the upside down method you actually only have to build the fire once and it'll burn all night long without you having to get up and throw more wood on the fire.

I understand that campings not for everyone but at the same time, neither is going to mexico. I'd rather sit around a fire with some close friends having a beer or two than get piss wasted with a buncha strangers with music so loud you can barely have a conversation.

Been camping twice a year for about 15 years now..It just doesn't do it for me anymore..been through it..expensive gas ,overbooked sites, campfire bans, dickwad park rangers have turned me off..Harrison lake f-in charged me $40 a night for parking and site...after that I was fed up.. It's seems like all the free sites I used to camp have found a way to make money of me...

Don't get me wrong i still miss campfires, shooting my shot gun , downin beers by lake, building random shit with my axe, etc but im turned off because has becoming a business in bc.

sounds like you need to go camping out in the woods on crown land where its free rather than at a provincial or regional park that makes you pay.

i dont pay to camp, dont run into park rangers or anyone else for that matter generally when i'm out camping.

you should get further away from those camp sites and have some fun again shooting your shotgun, downing beers by the lake and building random shit with your axe. just need to make the small effort to get out past where the typical campers be campin.

I'm kinda disappointed that link didn't show cooking anything on an exhaust manifold. Seems like mostly camping ideas for city folks that go once or twice a year.

^i'd say 90% of campers are exactly that type. the city folk who go once or twice a year so realistically its speaking to a much larger crowd.

ive gone at minimum once a month since January this year.

usually to stave, once at a provincial park (never again...cant stand being stuck beside some family with a whining kid or some tone def drunk girl belting out taylor swift songs on her guitar...).

but since its summer/camping season, fishing is a must! anyone been fishing lately? if so, during the week (usually around 7-9pm), you'll probably find me and the gf casting off the dock at sasamat lake. come say hi! lol

anyone got any good fishing lakes to recommend?

right now im thinking about heading up to gypsum lake to camp/fish for the weekend at the end of the month!

Haven't been camping in forever... wife always bitches about sleeping on the ground. And it's hard to justify when I have a cabin on a lake 5 hours away - so much easier, and still far away from anyone else :D

bummer, my gf is the one whos always saying "lets go camping this weekend!!!" :p

yet shes also the one that gets grumpy when she cant figure out how to set the tent up....or shes unsuccessful to start the fire...or cant split wood. she likes being outdoors...she tries to help, but when she gets frustrated and I have to step in and help her out, I get yelled at cause "its either my way or theres no other way" aka, she doesn't like it when I try to show her how to do something properly...she'd rater go through the trial and error process...which is frustrating to me lol...

head up to east harrison and camp where the silver creek exits into Harrison lake. go for med size spinners/flashers and cast out to the lake and reel back in towards the river.

you'll need to get about knee deep in water though to get a good casting angle rather than from shore.

i've had some luck catching trout out there. personally i prefer tidal fishing so other than harrison and the local lake like buntzen and sasamat i dont spend too much time freshwater fishing.

Sure, a few.... But my favourite spot to spend a secluded weekend is in and around Thalia Lake. One of the best spots to get away from it all. No light or noise pollution at all... Just watch out for the occasional bear and dear, oh and the roaming cattle as it is around the ranch lands....

Very quiet, exept on long weekends there might be a few people around the chain of 4 lakes... If your into flyfishing or more along the lines of Tubing its a great area. Not an easy area to find as you can get lost easily if you take a wrong turn.. I would say more but don't want everyone knowing the secrets of the lake lol ;)
