Question about vehicle registration

Hi Everyone,

I have a question from a friend, and I wanted to see what everyone's feedback is. This friend had purchased 2 motorcycles back in 2007, and because of sickness, he wasn't able to make payment on One of the two and it was repo-ed.

Fast forward to today, he paid off the other motorcycle that wasn't repo-ed, but wasn't able to get insurance for it. Apparently there is a lean on it and on the carfax it said it was sold to the repo company. Somehow the repo company has switched the vin between both motorcycles.

Long story short, my friend can't get insurance, sell, or do anything with the motorcycle. The bank refused to return phone calls and emails. What can he do without paying a lawyer? Transport Canada? ICBC?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

It probably wasn't a switch in VINs rather a mix up in paper work. A little more detail would be needed, are they similar motorcycles?

The reason I ask is that most motorcycles have the VINs stamped into the frame. The repo most likely wouldn't switch the VINs unless the swapped your frame.

It may help if you have the VIN number of the motorcycle that was actually repo'd so they can see who it is registered to.

Call ICBC's vehicle registration in the morning, 604-661-6638
