CBR500R and Ninja 300...price negotiable?

How much discount can you expect from these 2 models?
I found a bike forum from Ontario and seems like they do have some room.
Any experience? Thanks

honda cbr500r negotiable?

Dealership discounts in other locales will have no bearing in Vancouver because its all about local competition. Unless, you are actually willing to get your bike from Ontario that is.

Carter Motorsports wouldn't give me anything, even on their one and only red 500ra with scratched up mirrors.

So then I went to Honda Center and they were only willing to "waive" the documentation fee, which is bullshit anyways, so you don't actually get any discount off the sticker price.

Holeshot was willing to do a price match on any of the other dealerships with a $100 gift card in addition.

Most of the dealerships will have similar pricing, they know what they are up against locally, but all of them should also offer a 15% discount on accessories. On a brand new model, you will probably end up feeling a little bit of regret for paying too much, like I did.
I don't have any experience with Kawasaki because the Ninja wasn't something I looked deeper into. The 500r is a great bike and I knew it was the one I want.

REALLY IMPORTANT: You have to factor in the maintenance for the 500r into the cost because the service manual states that you have to do a valve adjustment at 1000km and that cost me $589.09 at Honda Center.

Thanks for the info.
I did more google search and looks like it's pretty common that they waive approx. $500 PDI&Freight. Did it ever happen to you? I know those cases are usually in the states or Toronto, but I was wondering if that's the case in BC.
I had no idea about valve adjustment at 1,000kms...

Both are first year models so you will not see a discount until the end of the season, and that will be the Factory discount on left over bikes only.

PDI & Freight seldom a discount

Doc Fees maybe.

I was talking to the people at BK they say the mark up on the Ninja 300 is less than on the 250, so that means they have no room to move and make a profit.

Remember "PROFIT" is important, remember Richmond Motorsport, they did not make a profit.

Yeah they're trying to get rid of 2012 Ninja 250R.
The discount is only $550 despite the fact that there's all new Ninja 300.

"only $550...."???

$550 is an extremely aggressive discount. The margin on these entry-level sport bikes is less than 10%... that means the dealer is selling that bike at COST... what they paid for it.... why should they take a loss on the bike if they don't have too? They owe it to themselves to sell it for as much as they can... profit enables them to exist.

and why are you quoting discounts on 600's when you're looking at a 250-300?

Hey Timp, from someone who's been looking for a while just take your time and make sure you get what you want. More discounts will eventually appear most likely.

Don't quote me on this but I heard they'll be rolling out 2014 300's in August. Just a heads up.
