Coming up on the 1 yr anniversary of the NHL lockout, teams have been given revenue and cap projections from the League. In 3 years, the league projects the Upper Limit at $80M and the floor at $64M. (Upper Limit today is $64.3M). Why did we have a lockout?
Thats a good deal for the Leafs at a 2.9Mil Cap hit. I was afraid Kadri was gonna look for Landeskog type money. This deal makes the Avalanche GM look like an idiot
Well any time you do a bridge deal, its a risk. Landeskog got big money but also got a huge term to go along with it. If he pans out to be the player they hope, it will be a great deal for the team at just over 5.5M/yr from year 4-7 of that contract based on the projected continued rise of the salary cap. For comparison's sake, Toronto signed Clarkson to the same term at virtually the same cap hit, he's 9 years older and has nowhere near the same upside...
If Kadri has a decent/big next 2 seasons at roughly a PPG pace, he'd easily be within his right to ask for 6-7M over a long term, and Nonis would look like the idiot for not signing him to a long term deal in 2013.
How much do you think the Habs wish now that they signed Subban to the 5-6M long term contract he wanted instead of the little bridge they hard-balled him into? And Subban currently has zero desire to talk about an extension past his bridge contract while the Habs would much prefer to get one done prior to him having another outstanding season
How are the games like down in Cali? I was planning a Vacation down there in November and didn't realize it lined up with the Canucks' schedule. Was just going to spend time in San Fran but might go to LA and Anaheim as well to catch their games there too.
This would be my first time going to an away game... and I might be on my own lol.
Your thoughts on new contracts for the Sedins? Whether they want to stay in Vancouver after playing one season under coach Torts remains to be seen.
I think if anything Torts in the room will be welcomed with open arms by the twins. I get the impression AV left them with the bulk of leadership responsibilities to get the team up and about. They are leaders for sure, but maybe not in the same motivational way that a headcoach could/should be. Think about when Luongo was 'captain', how much of a distraction that was to his on-ice game. His game improved IMO once he had that responsibility lifted. I for one can picture the twins game kicking up a notch this season with a bit less responsibility on their shoulders.

Maybe the Sedins should pay Aquaman for letting them play on the Canucks? lol
What do you guys think of giving up a forward like Sam Gagner for Cam Ward(415 points) in my espn fantasy league? Ward is a dud, but he faces so many shots that he is projected by espn to be the 2nd goalie to have behind Lundqvist(463.8).
My goalies right now are Rinne(330) and Price(370). Rinne plays on such a defensive team that he just doesn't face enough shots to rack up the points, even though he's an elite goalie.

I went to a Canucks/Ducks game in Anaheim almost 10 years ago, and there were a ton of Vancouver fans. Should be the same for all of the teams in Cali. Someone who has done the trip more recently could give you a better idea.

Making the playoffs has been working really well lately Posted via RS Mobile
Yep. Better than not making it at all and going golfing in April.
You're right though, we should be more like Columbus and only make the playoffs once every 13 years and get swept in the first round. That's a much better path to the Cup.
We're not making the playoffs without them either. Who else is going to score at a PPG pace for us?
Alfie just got 1 year @ 5.5m on a year the cap went down. Sedins will make at least 4.5m, depending if they give us a huge hometown discount or not.
I think at some point, they are going be complementary players and if that is going to be the case then they should be paid as such. Or you better hope those young guys step up BIG time.
And the problem with the Sedins is they aren't even PPG in the playoffs and majority of their points are all assists.
