A Kesler booth Kassian line would be more effective as a first unit if they were firing, that is a more playoff like first unit
And when I say Make Sedins this make them that, I'm talking about bringing in players or slotting other parts in elsewhere via trades/Free agency not just shuffling the garbage around Posted via RS Mobile
#canucks asked to run 2 miles in 12 mins or less. 3 were able to do it. Daniel, Henrik and Santorelli. Santorelli edged out twins by 2secs.
That's nuts! Torts really wants the team to be super fit. -cannot imagine what the strength tests would be for the guys. Each player has to bench press 360 pounds or more?

That's good hes doing that, the more fit and stonger they are will prevent injurys and they will be able to hopefully push harder later in the season.
Is it 2mils or kms tho? these guys should be able to do 2km in 12mins with no problem.
And the problem with the Sedins is they aren't even PPG in the playoffs and majority of their points are all assists.
And how many PPG playoff performers are there? 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs? There's bloody one guy that averages a pt/game. This ain't 80's or 90's anymore.
A toews/Kane/Bergeron/Richards/etc does soooooo much more than the Sedins when not producing points, all the Sedins have are their point production they bring nothing else in the playoffs Posted via RS Mobile
C'mon guys, this thread is on the verge of being as bad as "The Official Workout Thread"
Booth - Kesler - Kassian
yeah, I'd bet that would make a great line in NHL 14

I actually kind agree with this, except Kane doesn't really do anything when he's not generating points, either.

Your proposed top line would be great for a bottom feeding team. Too bad you want the Canucks to be a cup contender. Since our second line graduated, who's taking over second line duties? Our third line can barely handle top 9 duties, top 6 would be a disaster.
As for trading away the Sedins, the Canucks will probably get prospects and picks back. A straight trade of superstars rarely happen so good luck with that NHL14 fantasy.
Lastly, lets take a look at the top 10 free agents are available in the next off season.
Heatley
Gaborik
Vanek
Thornton
Marleau
Stastny
Cammalleri
Kessel
Pominville
Hemsky
Gionta
Jagr
Those are definitely better replacements for the Sedins. /sarcasm
If GMMG could bring in a solid 3rd (and a healthy 2nd) line that actually lives up to expectations then we'd instantly be cup contenders. Playoffs are won by having a solid top 9, not only relying on a top 6.

Agreed but they all have another line to do the scoring when they are doing other things. This goes back to my point of having a proper top 9 instead of what we have now, a top 3 and a bottom 9.

most of that list will never make it to FA, for example, Thornton and Marleau are going to be resigned unless they fall off a cliff in production and if that were the case they wouldn't be options to replace the Sedins anyways. Heater, Hemsky, Jagr, Gionta, Pominville, Statsny, Camalleri are not better players than the Sedins even factoring in their expected decline over next couple years. So it's really Vanek, Gab, Kessel who will all get huge paydays of 7 mil+ as a FA.

do you even hockey?
vanek - already said if hes traded this year, he hopes it is to minny. when he hits ufa, he said hes minny bound
heatley - uhhh really? slower than the sedins, cant play d, lots of injury problems recently. less upside than the sedins
hemsky/gaborik - decent players when not injured 3/4 of the year.
gionta/cammalleri/stastny - 50-60pt midgets. o ok, stastny just hits 6ft
pominville - id include him in the group above but hes got a little bit more offence
jagr - people worry about the sedins not producing in the playoffs or declining play.. hes 41
marleau/thornton/kessel - to even think they are leaving their teams when cap is going up roughly 5mil..
none of them are replacements, canucks take the sedins over them. as they will come cheaper and more than likely outperform 90 - 100% of those players
Kessel is an interesting case though, he has stated he isn't interested in discussing an extension during the season. I'm sure hes well aware if he hits UFA he will be the top dog he will be 26. The other top FA's are all 30+ unless you want to count Stastny. But he will likely get 7-8mil over 7.
I think at some point, they are going be complementary players and if that is going to be the case then they should be paid as such. Or you better hope those young guys step up BIG time.
And the problem with the Sedins is they aren't even PPG in the playoffs and majority of their points are all assists.
in the last 3 playoffs combined there are 4 guys that are over PPG Giroux, Crosby, Malkin, and Briere. Henrik was 10th and Daniel 14th in highest ppg.

This list looks like a great list of regular season performers.
Sorry guys, forgot sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet lol. Was trying to prove the point that there are no good free agents that are better than the sedins. Point proven
like i said previously, even if the sedins do regress, which would take a couple more years.. you have a group of: kesler, kassian, horvat, jensen, guance, shinkaruk + possible ufas to make a 1st line with.
Still lol'ing at the suggestion of Booth - Kesler - Kassian being our top line
notsureifsrs
well... If all goes well next season.
Booth will get 60 pts, Kesler will score 41 goals,
and I honestly feel that this is Kassian's breakout year, with 46 goals, wrapping up the season with 97 pts.
HOW is this NOT a top line??

*EDIT: I'm not too worried about his contract status for next year as the cap will be going up and the Leafs can afford to pay out to the max for him. Some see the signing of Bozak as a step to keep Kessel happy and playing in Toronto. He better well stay in Toronto because I now have his jersey and I've been counting down the days to the start of the season so I can wear it.
