Random thought; that some teams play even rougher in the pre-season, maybe even minor intent to injure because the outcome of the game means nothing so taking penalties aren't much of a factor. Weakening opposing teams top players for the regular season?
Just noticing all the rough play, and going all out on hits and boarding, the suspensions, the fights. Maybe just my imagination.

CONSPIRACY?!
It may seem like a conspiracy, but logically, it's the prospects/inbetweeners that are trying to make an impression on the coach.
preseason games don't mean players take it easy like an all-star game.
It means lesser skilled players are in the line up, but they all have something to prove.
And after a long break of several months, players are fired up to get into action again.

Welsh AHL bound for sure.. Dalpe probably gonna have a shot playing centre at some point, pretty sure he's waiver eligible so its possible he'll get claimed... which would mean wasting a 4th rounder so...
Could just mean a Bo or Shinny don't get more than 9
Rather than lose Colborne through waivers, Leafs get a conditional 4th from the Flames. Becomes a 3rd should he score 10 goals or 35 points, or the Flames make the playoffs (lol).
for whoevers interested, you can grab a copy of nhl 13 for ps3 for only 13$ shipped to your home but order it quick because the sale ends at 10am today.

same age, junior and uni stats are almost the same
biggest dif is that colborne is known as the gentle giant, while dalpe is supposedly harder on the forecheck/higher energy. neither is that great at defence, also add the fact if gillis even asked about colborne, nonuts would ask for a 1st. prefer dalpe in this situation
Burke has a hard-on for Colborne. Not much Gillis could do to get between the Nonis and Burke in this case except overpay.
Colborne has size but rarely uses it. If he started playing with heart and went to the net, and used his head, he'd be a top 6 player. When I first read about the trade, I thought: "I wonder if Burke even consulted Feaster on this one."
With the Flames battling for the basement, that 4th is closer to a 3rd. If Colborne plays like he did in last years playoffs, he could reach the performance conditions on that pick.
