ship chase sailed on Coho. My opinion is that if torts was coaching, he be benched so fast because this kid can't back check. Although it's much improved this season.
Kassian is a piece of work. That's all I will say. This whole "power forward" talk is cheap. Crawford said it perfectly on an interview on 1040 recently. Kassian has pretty good vision, but his skating, conditioning and overall discipline needs work. The kid still looks so raw out there.
But it's ok, Canuck prospects always pan out

-gotta like the way that Torts likes to get different line combinations together to get more offence and make it harder for teams to forecheck them. The Sedins are split up to play on different lines during practice.
Some things are better when they are apart.
Henrik plays with Kesler and Higgins.
Daniel remains on line with Santorelli and Hansen.
Good news for Burrows. He's doing his off-ice workouts, without a walking boot. He's ahead of schedule in terms of his return from injury. Torts sticking to winning formula | News1130

Just watched the Torts post game interview from the game in Philly, and he made a great point. The Sedins were being checked very hard, the Canadians played a great shut down game against that line, but as soon as you split them up, you get 2 lines of fantastic playmaking. Unless your checking line can double the minutes, or you have 2 great shut down lines, you are going to give a LOT of teams a hell of a time. I think this is a great idea and should be kept up. Both Sedins are natural playmakers, I just think Danny has kind of become the goal scorer because thats the way its always been. I think both of them can equally make plays happen, and makes for a wicked top 2 with them split.

Agreed for sure, just hope that Santo and Hansen can finish if Daniel sets them up. He did have 63 assists to go with his 41 goals when he won the Art Ross.

I think that line excites me more then any of our others.

I think Santo has been a nice surprise, but I don't expect him to keep it as consistently as he has. Hansen can go to the net, but sometimes has trouble finishing. Hoping for the best though!
I think Kes - Hank - Higgy will be a good line. 2 guys who won't hesitate to shoot the puck, and 1 guy who won't shoot the puck.

The one thing keeping Kassian from succeeding is himself. He just lacks motivation, focus and discipline, on and off the ice. These are the same issues he's had in Buffalo and Rochester, even after being reemed out by management, benched and sent down to AHL for these same issues last year, he still seems more interested in what is going on in Yaletown or the Granville strip on the weekend than bettering himself as a professional hockey player. Hopefully he matures and gets his head screwed on straight soon, for the Canucks sake.

I think we screwed up with Kassian the moment he got here. He should have like any other player got thrown in the minors until he was actually ready.
The implications of the trade especially with the media perpetuating it gave the organization so much pressure resulting in "special treatment"
"we have high expectations for him", blah blah blah power forward, then you hear him partying a lot and him coming into camp in just "okay shape"
Hopefully he gets back into the groove after one or two more games

I can see the Oilers and Sabres being good trade partners, Sabres are pretty deep in great D prospects (Pysyk, Ristolaninen, Zadorov, McNabb and McCabe, with a really young Myers on the team too) and have a #1 goalie to shop, Oilers need D and a goalie bad. Report: Oilers, Sabres working on major trade | ProHockeyTalk Quote: Report: Oilers, Sabres working on major trade
Could the Sabres and Oilers be on the verge of a major trade?
Well, you didn’t hear that from us. But you did hear it from Buffalo News columnist Bucky Gleason:
And just so you know, there was talk Wednesday afternoon that the Sabres were working on a deal with Edmonton that would send Ryan Miller or Thomas Vanek and possibly both to the Oilers in a package that would bring Nail Yakupov and more to Buffalo. Whether it actually happens is another story. But as it stood Wednesday, the two sides had considered, or were considering, a major swap.
…
Miller is in the final year of his contract. The Oilers wouldn’t make the deal unless they could convince him to sign a contract extension. Edmonton is a great hockey town. The Oilers are on the rise. They could be a goaltender away from getting back into contention.
If you’re skeptical, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Especially about the potential for Miller to sign a contract extension with the Oilers when he could become an unrestricted free agent this summer. There’s always a knee-jerk negative reaction to the suggestion a star player — especially a non-Canadian one — would choose to live in Edmonton.
At the very least, it’s a fun rumor.
Miller, by the way, will get the start tonight when the Sabres host the Canucks.

I support Kassian now. No point living in the past and in the "what could have been" world. | The guy that made the mistake in trading Grabner, Coho, Schneider and a first round with Grabner is still our GM, so yeah, it's an issue. That's four first rounders. Three proven assets.
What did we get instead? Kassian, a working project, Booth a salary cap weight (Imagine we had $4.2M this summer to shop for UFAs), a buy out in Ballard, Higgins extension and Richardson as our third line centre.
