Definitely getting the answers we want to hear. Let's see if he and the team, deliver.

"Sedins are going to kill penalties" :heckno:

Haha was just going to post that, that's unheard of. Who knows, maybe they'll be good at it? Pretty good presser from Torts so far.

It's funny to hear Torts say things like "Good question" etc, after we've been fed all the negative clips haha. I see that being talked about prior to the presser.

fliptuner 06-25-2013 12:29 PM

Already getting sick of him saying bite and stiffness though. lol

chouchou 06-25-2013 12:33 PM

Well spoken guy, am fairly excited won't lie about it. Quite the different vibe than with AV pressers.

pastarocket 06-25-2013 12:35 PM

It's an interesting press conference with Gillis and Torts. Tortorella said that he and Vigneault have called each other almost every day, for the past two weeks, sharing information about their former players, to prepare as coaches of new team.

The coaches are sharing notes about formers players already.

jeedee 06-25-2013 12:35 PM

5 years of Tortorella :ahwow:

lol'd hard when Elliot Papp asked if Torts got the same money as AV and Gillis ignored his ass :lawl:

They used to run PK with Crow back when they were second liners. Also I believe in the first 1 or 2 years with AV at the helm.

Yeah true, been a long, long time though. Don't remember much of it, but hopefully they remember what to do.

pastarocket 06-25-2013 12:43 PM

-get the vibe that the players are certainly curious about their new coach. Kes, Higgins, and Garrison were at the press conference today. -doing a little recon to find out something about Torts being talking to their team mates.

Yeah it's been a while, though if their ability to play keep away is any indication, then they'll be A-OK.

If anything we should hope they don't play it exactly like how they run their offence, otherwise they might forget and accidentally score on their own net

Henrik was there too.

Surprised Lu didn't go to the press conference after his tweet about wanting to sit in on them :lol

yeh Higgy and Garri looked excited! I think Higgy played for torts before in NY

68style 06-25-2013 01:32 PM

Kesler already played for him at the 2010 Olympics when Torts was an Assistant on the USA team so I'm sure he knows all about him... same as the Sedins would have talked to Naslund and Lundqvist. Whatever happens, it's definitely not going to be boring!

nubtub 06-25-2013 01:40 PM

I agree that for Canucks to get full value, they need to trade Schneids instead of Lu. Can't see any team taking on Lu's contract. Philly bought out Bryzgalov, with almost the same term left, can't see them taking on Lu like most people seem to be thinking. Maybe Schneids and Edler to Philly for Coutourier, Talbot, mid level D prospect and late pick? Wishful thinking?

Vale46Rossi 06-25-2013 01:40 PM

I wonder if coaches could be traded in the NHL?

Like how Doc Rivers from Boston Celtics got traded to L.A Clippers.

Already happened.

We 'traded' AV for Torts :troll:

TPMarko 06-25-2013 01:48 PM

i wonder if lu would consider staying in vancouver if the option presented itself. i for one would like to see cory get moved for more usable pieces for this core to take a run again. we always have eddie lack as a prospect waiting in the wings or maybe backup this next year if he gets healthy enough.

Though I agree that Schneids will get a better return, there is no way in hell you can compare Luongo's play and contract with that of Bryz. Bryz has a higher cap hit by $333,333 and his play is completely inconsistent. We're talking Cloutier inconsistent.
