YES! I can potentially enjoy my Schroeder t-shirt for one season!

As it stands, the centre’s agent, Wade Arnott, is reportedly looking for a deal in excess of $5 million per year on a deal as long as eight years, numbers the Leafs are never going to swallow for a player who was fifth on the team in scoring with a mediocre 28 points in 46 games.
Forty NHL centres had more points than Bozak last season, while only 14 played more minutes.
Bickel is worth that much cause he puts up points in the playoffs! But yeah sucks in the season but as all canucks fans know the season means jack shit once you get to the playoffs! Posted via RS Mobile
Also some food for thought, McKenzie confirmed that lots of GMs were shocked about the Schnoo trade and that they would have offered more.... I don't think that I buy Gillis' "I looked at every single option." Or it could just be what was offered had good value but was not valuable for the make-up of our team...
BTW anyone check out the new Botchford article.. it brings the lulz
Did McKenzie tweet that other GMs would have offered more? I didn't see that on his timeline. Source? Also, what GM would come out and say "we would have offered more?" It's confirmed via the media scrum earlier today that Gillis was not offered a 1st, 2nd and a very high end prospect by the Oilers. That was his asking price from teams in the Canucks division. Even though in the past Gillis has said he'd trade within the division, the realignment kind of changes that philosophy.
Gillis was not going to get what the Caps did for Varlamov (Avalanche's first-round pick in 2012 and a second-rounder in 2012 or 2013) but they were going to get more than the Kings got for Bermier (Scrivens, Frattin, 2nd).
The only thing I can really criticize is he took so long to trade one of the goalies he really backed himself into a wall. The actual move he made, I just don't see how teams were going to give up much of anything. He was dealing from a position of weakness, with either goalie.

Just tryna avoid buyouts as much as possible
Definitely too much on his plate atm. And on the topic of team finances, I was shocked that the Blackhawks are losing money, I've read that they're going to lose around $10 million despite the cup win.
Schneider for a former OHL playoff MVP is a fair trade, he maybe unproven but the track record for those who achieve that are one of the best players in the league right now.
Don't blame the kid if he sucks, blame the team development
2013 - Bo Horvat (London Knights)
2012 - Austin Watson (London Knights)
2011 - Robby Mignardi (Owen Sound Attack)
2010 - Adam Henrique (Windsor Spitfires)
2009 - Taylor Hall (Windsor Spitfires)
2008 - Justin Azevedo (Kitchener Rangers)
2007 - Marc Staal (Sudbury Wolves)
2006 - Daniel Ryder (Peterborough Petes)
2005 - Corey Perry (London Knights)
2004 - Martin St. Pierre (Guelph Storm)
2003 - Derek Roy (Kitchener Rangers)
2002 - Brad Boyes (Erie Otters)

It's easy to say "I would have offered more", but then why didn't they if their interest was serious? Just a bunch of tire kickers making trouble after the fact.

5/12 have not really made a name for themselves. And that DOESN'T include Derek Roy *shudders* who showed he has the skill but not the will
I don't have huge issues with Schneider's return. I just don't agree that Horvat's OHL MVP pedigree really means a whole lot moving forward. Of that list of 12, 1 is a true 'best player of the league' - Corey Perry. Boyes, Staal, Hall, Henrique, are established regular names, but either will not reach 'best player' status or still some uncertainty whether they will get there or not.
