Yzerman and the other Team Canada execs did a good job in picking this team.
Defend our gold medal boys!

Canadian team looks pretty good. No need for Giroux. Glad Nash is in, he's a beast.

The defence has the mobility, size, and toughness that Canada needs on the bigger ice surface.
PK's open ice hits on Ovie.

If Team Canada wanted size, Lucic would've made the team.
And thats just a disaster waiting to happen on the big ice in Sochi

Marty St.Louis would have been awesome. The guy may be small, but he's got such a great vision on the ice and can play in all situations.
For sure he is one of the top candidates for injury replacement.

I think with Carter they were looking for a sniper not named Neal. Given he also plays center, he wins out over Neal. Richards is made redundant with Toews.
Edit:
So who takes captaincy? Sid 100%? Maybe Captain Serious? Who are your picks if different? Discuss!

gotta remember, in canada we have so much tallent available, its not so much about picking the 25 best players, it is about picking the best player to fill the roll. SteveY knows what hes doing.
Nash probably got the nod over MSL because he seriously steps his game up when he puts the maple leaf on. I would still have loved to see MSL on the big ice again tho.
Canada could ice a second team that could beat their primary team.

So who takes captaincy? Sid 100%? Maybe Captain Serious? Who are your picks if different? Discuss! | Give the captaincy to Toews. Captain Serious is clutch. Nothing against Crosby, as we all know he was clutch in 2010. -need a more serious dude to keep the team focussed now that we're playing all road games.
