losers crying for "big trades" ugh. worst type of fans you'll get in any sport, The armchair triggerhappy gm.
This game will make us 1-8-3 against the California teams, which are our main competitors for a playoff position. So tell me, does this team look good enough to compete against them? A trade isn't needed because we're good enough? The worst type of fans are the ones who can't admit that their team just isn't good enough.
Feel bad for Eriksson, not the best start to his NHL career, jesus.
Youth develops faster with veterans and it's crucial to a teams success. The Canucks have failed to work the young players to the line up with stars like Sedins in their prime, failing to create a winning culture that sustains itself. Instead, they trade away draft picks and keep filling the roster with 3rd/4th liners
Youth develops by playing against veterans, aka they need playing time for it, teams that were stanley cup contenders don't usually have time to give rookies 15-20 a night, which means they don't develop as fast. Which is why you see Detroit have its prospects play a lot of minutes in the minors for a few years, so when they come up, they compete.
Next look at the prospect list the Canucks had when Gillis took over in 2008, basically 3 3rd liners, a 2nd line center and a starting goalie, that's it. For all the people who complain about Hodgson, he cried about playing behind Hank and Kesler, 2 people he could of learned from to become better, if he served his time like most rookies on good teams, he didnt created problems and was shipped out, so was Seguin in a similar situation. My basic point was that it takes time to replace a prospects system from the abysmal state it was, and pointing out why there is no youth, and why its even harder to have it when the team is trying to compete every year.
THE ROCK: "What's your favorite donut?"
DETECTIVE #2: "Jelly."
THE ROCK: "Oh, you like jelly. Well, jelly's a good one. The Rock says this; write this down. When you leave here, go down to Dunkin Donuts, get the biggest jelly donut you can find!"
(crowd pops louder)
LAWLER: "Oh, no... this guy's a COP!"
THE ROCK: "Write it down. Hold that jelly donut up, SQUEEZE all the jelly out, squeeze all the-- write it down; you like writing things down-- squeeze all the jelly out, and then-- write this down, you don't want to forget this-- TURN that sumbitch sideways, and stick it STRAIGHT UP your CANDY ASS!"

1 trade isnt gonna make this team become a stanley cup contender, nor will it be enough to beat these teams in a series. imo this team needs at least 1-2 good bottom 6 players and 1-2 second liners not to mention they still dont have a #1d like a contender should. why trade all the youth and picks for that, we tried to replace those things the last two years and just wasted picks that could of possibly been here next year. wait for free agency, the draft, and see what happens in camp with horvat, gaunce, corrado.
I'm not saying trade youth and picks, trade some players. Try and move Edler for a top 6 fwd. Move Hansen. I don't really care at this point, we need someone who is a pure goal scorer (who doesn't) and some better bottom 6 players - which we haven't had in quite some time. It's been the same story the past 2-3 seasons and it's growing old...

These moves make sense.
C'mon Gillis get it done! Posted via RS Mobile
elder has ntc. we have d prospects we could trade, along with tanev. honestly besides our prospects we dont really have attractive players that dont have a ntc/nmc. trading hansen on the contract is a mistake, a good 3rd liner, not a 1st or 2nd liner.

Gillis' search for another centre right now further proves he had absolutely no plan for a 3C after trading our good friend (don't say Shredder, he ain't even close.....lol)
inb4 Gillis: "It's a process."
inb4 Henrik: "We played well tonight, the bounces just didn't go our way."
