I understand its too late now, but its fun to break this shit down
hahaha
At the end of the day, its opinionated based on what the official THINKS is right
No doubt this is also done by NHL officials to learn from the experience. The fact that the fans have access to an ex-official (and especially one of Fraser's experience/fame/notoriety) is unprecedented, and good on TSN for picking him up as a part-time analyst for his column. It gives us lowly fans some insight to the inner workings of the league, much like 24/7 does.
Tanev in a package deal for ROR doesn't make that much sense kinda. They have enough RHD (Barrie, Johnson, Sarich, Guenin, and one or two more up-and-coming prospects). They are playing a right hander on the left side right I believe.
Edler fits because he's LHD and he'd be on the top pairing with Johnson and they'd take pressure off of each other, Edler only waives if MG asks him (and he's said in the past he will never ask a player to waive NTC) or if he has his nudes. They are looking for a top two pairing defenseman right now so throwing Stanton in wouldn't cut it either, nor does he have much value at all. Tanev doesn't have THAT much value either, its just that us Canucks fans overvalue our players, and undervalue players we want to acquire, from my experience at least. Its also too bad that our expendable players have more value to us than they would be to other teams as well
missed the game again tonight, but what did hanzal get for crosschecking booth in the face? didn't lupul get a couple games for that at the winter classic?
O'Reilly would be an amazing addition if the cost was one of Tanev/Corrado/Hutton.
But I question his attitude especially after sitting out last year trying to get paid. I understand he was an RFA, but most RFA accept their qualifying deal and bide their time to being a UFA. He wasn't the same level as Duchene even though in his head he thought he was. The fact he sat out really left a sour taste. And if the Canucks end up getting him, the qualifying offer is 6.5mil next year. $$$$
That said- he's essentially a more skilled Andrew Ladd-type player. And he's only 22. Exactly what the Canucks need.
lol I'm pretty sure that isn't true at all, most guys coming off 26-26-55 point seasons are not accepting their "qualifying offer" which would been something around 900k looking at his contract status. There is usually some middle ground pay raise and obviously we don't know how negotiations went, it could have been the Avs were straight lowballing him with the qualifying offer yet ROR would be the asshole for holding out? also his qualifying offer doesn't really matter, he can still technically be signed to a multi year deal for less money.

nvm
The team usually has some decent catering options.
The food alone is worth it
The salmon and the free vijs was well worth it for that summer summit QnA with John Daly
HAHA
No single player is going to get the Canucks to the cup final. What ROR brings is youth in a position where the Canucks need help, 2 way ability and a knack around the net. He's only 22, and should (I say this loosely) get better as he approaches 25/26.
Yes the Canucks need scoring. But ROR would provide more scoring than players currently on the Canucks roster. Where there's smoke, there's fire- and with Lebrun singling out the Canucks ahead of the other 28 teams that would add ROR to their rosters it should mean that the Canucks are pursuing hard.
And Earl not sure if you're trolling, but no organization would touch that trade with a 10ft pole. He's likely going to bolt to the KHL after his current contract is done. He's been used and abused over in Edmonton. Damaged goods is Yakupov.
