I think everyone complaining about the hockey game on both sides are being little bitches. This is hockey, the toughest and hardest hitting sport in the world, where fighting is allowed and welcomed by 90% of fans.
Shit goes down cause they are manly men...not little fairy's....man the fuck up, it was epic and awesome.
so STFU

no doubt about it hockey is one of the toughest and hardest hitting sports...but maybe the 2nd compared to american football
you think guys like the sedins would last a minute in the nfl?
but yea tortorella + but the line brawl were badass as fuck, only pussies would hate on the way that flames-canucks game went down
I am not so sure if Football is harder hitting. The players may be bigger but football's speed is limited to running, whereas I would think you can go faster and carry more momentum through a hit on skates.
That hit in the gif doesn't seem much different than an open ice hit when a forward has his head down and gets lined up.

also take into consideration that skates dig into the ground harder than cleats to get a good position for a hit. Compare your landing surface as well...turf.... or ice, glass(which actually helps), stanchions, and players benchboards which dont help.
sports science also proved hockey hits are 17% harder

One of the questions that are often asked is which sport is tougher to play, hockey or football. Sports science reported that NHL hits are 17% harder than NFL hits, even though NHL players are 20% smaller. Both sports have players that play through some pretty tough injuries. In 2011 Patriots center Logan Mankins played the whole NFL season with a torn ACL, which is one of the most painful injuries. In the 2011 NHL playoffs, Nathan Horton of the Boston Bruins played the whole playoffs with a seriously separated shoulder until being knocked out of the Stanley Cup Finals with a concussion. Now skill wise, both sports require a lot. Hockey players skate on the ice for 1 minute shifts skating at up to 25 miles per hour. Football players have to stay on the field but get time in between plays to rest. Football has 6 more positions then hockey players on offense. Each position has a certain job they have to do. Wide receivers have to run routes be able to catch the ball and run. For hockey players every player on the ice has to be able to pass the puck, be able to shoot and be able to skate and be smart. There are more positions in football but require greater detail than hockey. But each hockey player has to be able to do the same thing as every other player on the ice.

Fuck the streak. Who knows how many times it has already done damage. It's better for hank to get to 100% and play his best in the long term.

football players take helmet to helmet all the time, which is the equivalent of getting crosschecked into a face. for example, anquan boldin fractured his nose and was knocked unconscious by a hit from eric smith
getting slammed into a board is the equivalent of getting hit by a linebacker
lose teeth? LOL...that doesnt hurt at all
get cut by sharp objects? due to a nature of the sport, thats not really possible obviously. alot of guys lose fingers tho
have their careers ended by concussion in one hit? kevin kolb, roger staubach and tons of linebackers
lets be real, every hockey game there is one, maybe two big hits. every play in the nfl can be potentially a big hit. and you can't even get hit if you're not carrying the puck in the nhl whereas everyone gets hit on every play during football
Quote:
Boston University neurologist Robert Stern tells us that playing football is “the equivalent of driving a car 35 miles an hour into a brick wall — a thousand or 1,500 times a year.
If losing teeth doesn't hurt you should try taking an elbow or flying puck to the mouth.

Both sports are rough as hell but as far as long term damage goes I'd think football is worse. I'd hate to be an ex NFL player in my later years. Posted via RS Mobile
Yes in the long run I'd probably agree Football takes a larger toll on the body than Hockey.
But when strictly speaking for hits only, I'd say Hockey's are bigger.
