better question is, who would want to come play for the canucks given how we treated one of our franchise players?
As far as I'm concerned, Lu got moved back home where he wanted to be anyways. How's that for management treating a player properly?
Remember those reports from the summer where Lu unofficially said the only reason he was reporting to the Canucks was a chance at the Olympics? IF all it took was not starting in the Heritage Classic to piss him off again, my opinion is he was on the way out anyways. He was playing himself to show other teams that he is worth trading for, he wasn't going to stay a Canuck until retirement. I had thought he'd get traded this off season, but not surprised he got moved
I am a fan of hockey. I'm just saying that I'm losing interest for the Canucks as a team. Guess I can become one of those "neutral" hockey fans.
I'm starting to lose interest of Canucks, not because of any specific player being traded, but because of this horseshit of mismanagement.
I almost feel like I need to boycott this organization just to sleep better at night.

He definitely wasn't happy about the whole ordeal last season, but I was convinced maybe, with Schneider now gone, he would have at least been alright with being #1 again, even if there was some resentment still with MG.
If Luongo was going to bounce regardless, then Schneider shouldn't have been traded.
Gillis should have figured out whether Luongo was going to stay long term or not.
Because this would have been a huge factor whether trading Schneider was an option or not. So that's why, I say it's mismanagement. Because now we have 2 unproven rookie goalies.

I will always love and support the Canucks but supporting the management is a different story... Time to bring in an actual GM and not a scout who thinks hes one...
I hope Kesler and Elder are traded and not given away which seems like Gilles is good at...
WHO the heck is Jackob Markstrom.. lol... we trade a big name goalie for a somebody?
Sooooo.. whos our #1 goalie? Eddie Lack??? DAMN wished we kept Cory Schneider
He was part of the reason why FLA didn't think they needed Luongo's services and contract in its entirety last year. Markstrom was supposed to be an elite goalie prospect. Big, athletic. Things in FLA didn't turn out to be in his favour and his numbers show it. On a better team it's possible that Markstrom can learn to play the game right and thrive.
12 months ago we had two star goaltenders in Luongo and Schneider.
Now we have zero star goaltenders and a pair of rookie goaltenders. Regardless of potential, this is just horrendous mismanagement.
MG officially shit the bed.
schnieder only had 70 games more exp than lack.does when he was traded. he was hardly proven as a star goaltender yet.people too worried about a firesale to realize we have cap to sign goalscorers Posted via RS Mobile

He was a player agent.
And the "potential GM" pool in the NHL is pretty light. So if you can MG, you're likely getting a "nouveau" GM in return. GMs don't really grow on trees. Even good GMs like Holmgren, Lombardi, Shero, and Holland spend time on the hotseat. Lombardi was going to get canned in 2012 before he pulled a rabbit out of a hat, gave up a "cornerstone" d-man like Jack Johnson for Jeff Carter, and the rest is history.
I'm not denying that MG has made some bone-headed moves, the most horrible being getting "nothing" in return for 2 superstar goalies. But like trades, if you want to can MG, you need to replace him somehow.
Something to think about - why was Luongo announced as tonight's starter if a trade was imminent?

I'm still pretty confused as to what people thought we could get for Luongo? Everyone is saying MG fucked up with this trade, blah blah blah - but he's been trying to trade Lu for years. Were people honestly expecting a top 6 forward for Lu? Because it just wasn't going to happen with his contract. He's also 35 years old and not getting any younger.
People need to take off their Lu-coloured glasses for a moment and realize that the value that we as fans put on him just wasn't out there amongst 29 other teams. Getting a goalie who was considered the best goalie prospect in the world at one point, a young 3rd line guy and getting some cap space sounds just right to me.
I love Lu and everything he has done for us, but this has been a long time coming and to expect a ridiculous return is just being asinine.
With Canucks fans it's damned if you do damned if you don't. Regardless, it's exciting for me as a fan to finally see some big shakeups.

thats what people dont understand
all the bozo's on the facebook page etc
"I WILL SUPPORT MY TEAM THROUGH ALL OF THIS UNLIKE YOU NON-FANS"
its like, no no no..first off tell me the difference between Salary and Cap hit
second, i dont support ineptitude, i dont support spitting in players faces, and i dont support the short shortsightedness to compete
I'm fan enough to be highly educated on matters regarding the team, therefore i can form an educated opinion on the subect. I cannot blindly support a team that has made the moves this one has.
