If we got some prospects from Pittsburgh, we're gonna have guys bitching like RRxtar.

Everyone here wanted Markstrom and Matthias. It was time for Luongo to move on.
Eliot's pretty dialed in. I doubt anything with Kesler is done now.
On a brighter note: 29 other teams are still in the playoffs before the summer draft. The Canucks did the right thing setting a high price when desperation is at it's highest. More buyers in the summer can drive up the price.
@m3thoids : you'd think teams being desperate now would want to pay the most instead of in the summer.. Posted via RS Mobile
Yeah you're right, but more teams can drive up the market value. It's pretty much guaranteed that 30 teams want Kesler. At the deadline you're basically chopping the potential suitors in half. And the extra time may change the minds of teams like Detroit and Philly who opted out of the deadline sweepstakes.
But as you're possibly alluding to, it can be Luongo 2.0 all over again at this year's draft.
Well teams that trade for Kesler now means they get to use him for the 2014 Playoffs. So I would think Kesler has more value now.
Yes you're right. But only to those 2-3 teams that wanted him now. As you can see, the price that the Canucks were asking was still too high for said teams that really wanted him.
I expect the price will end up being lowered in the Summer. But with more potential suitors, there's a higher possibility that a GM may be dumb enough to bite on the original price.
Edit: Also, more teams might be in play for Kesler to choose from since he wants to win a Cup, and more teams are "in it" in the Summer.
The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I donīt care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. Thatīs how winning is done. Now, if you know what you worth, go out and get what you worth. - Rocky Balboa
