10 - Meh, Brown is barely a 4th liner, McIver is an AHLer ... Not a huge difference. Brown was also pissed off that Sundin, future hall-of-famer, wanted his #13.
9 - Shane O'Brien was traded for a multitude of reasons, most important of which was that he was outplayed by Andrew "The Garbage" Alberts in pre-season AND CLEARED WAIVERS.
8 - Everyone knew it was a mistake to sign Sturm ... but at least we didn't get stuck with Ville Leino, who CDC was screaming for us to get ...
7 - Shirokov never played another game in the NHL. Duco I believe played a couple.
6 - Mike Weaver is a 3rd pair dman on the Florida Panthers ...
5 - Ummm ...
4 - Would've been a mistake had Sundin accepted it, assuming it was actually offered ...
3 - Raymond > Grabner except for that one season
2 - Probably the only real mistake on here, aside from #4 (assuming everything was true)
1 - Ballard was a top pair dman in Florida who had been putting up 30+ points and wasn't prone to injury. He couldn't have possibly predicted AV and Bowness would completely destroy him.
2 - Probably the only real mistake on here, aside from #4 (assuming everything was true)
I wouldn't even go that far. At that point, there was question whether Mitchell could even play in the NHL anymore. Tha Canucks offered him a fair (IMO) 1 yr contract given the risk in his situation with the concussion. The Kings took a big chance by offering him more money and term, and for Mitchell at that point I think not knowing whether he really had it anymore, was a no brainer for him to accept for his own stability.

It's easy to look back at MG and say he had 2 all star starting goalies and turned them into a pair of unproven rookies. But so much stuff happened in between then and now. Had he traded Schneider in the 2012 offseason like he 'should' have, he would have been burned at the stake by the fans especially after he dumped CoHo earlier in the season. And remember this is largely before the @strombone1 era and most of Vancouver had not fallen back in love with Lu. MG should take some fault for flip flopping on his direction, but really, so many things were out of his control. Just like most of the Canucks this season, it seems he was a victim of bad luck
Playoff hockey is the best hockey, and I'm sad that the Canucks are not playing.

Aside from that...there is basically no market for goalies at all. Lets just hope Horvat pans out.
A little neat thing I found out last night. The Duck's goalie Andersen...guess what! They drafted him in the 3rd Round with our draft pick that was used to trade for Lapierre.
One of the biggest blunders for me was to put Aaron Volpatti on waivers then losing him for nothing. Shiet, he was one of the most honest players we had. We put him on waivers to make room for Steve Pinizzotto and I'm sorry but where's Steve?

Was looking at past drafts this morning and why the fuck Ron Delmore is still here pisses me off.
Yeah, Ron Delorme, Canuck alumni, shouldn't be on our payroll anymore. -really hoping that Trevor and the new GM clean house to get better scouts.
Lu is having a frustrating start to his Easter celebrations haha:
