I like Team's Canada strength in forwards, defense, and goaltending. We have a strong coaching staff.
Here's Team Russia's preliminary roster. Their defense and goaltending looks weak compared to Canada: Russia announces preliminary Olympic hockey roster
The Russians will be led by NHL superstars Pavel Datsyuk, Evgeni Malkin, and Alex Ovechkin, along with new KHL star Ilya Kovalchuk.
Nail Yakupov of the Edmonton Oilers was among the invitees at forward. Goalie Ilya Bryzgalov was among the notable omissions from the list.
Goalkeepers: Sergei Bobrovsky, Semyon Varlamov, Vasily Koshechkin, Evgeni Nabokov, Konstantin Barulin.
Defenders: Evgeny Biryukov, Vyacheslav Voinov, Anton Volchenkov, Sergei Gonchar, Denis Denisov, Alexei Emelin, Andrei Markov, Evgeny Medvedev, Nikita Nikitin, Ilya Nikulin, Eugene Ryasensky, Fedor Tyutin.
Forwards: Artem Anisimov, Michael Varnakov, Pavel Datsyuk, Ilya Kovalchuk, Denis Kokarev, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nikolai Kulemin, Evgeni Malkin, Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Perezhogin, Alexander Popov, Alexander Radulov, Alexander Semin, Vladimir Tarasenko, Alexei Tereshchenko, Viktor Tikhonov, Vadim Shipachev, Nail Yakupov.

Not really shocked at Iggy not being invited, he's getting up there in age and has definitely lost a step, looked really slow this last season. I'm more surprised that Benn didn't get an invite.

I was also surprised Spezza didn't get an invite as well. But seeing how he was injured for most of last season is probably the reason.

i dont get why Gibson is being invited to the American camp. He's played 1 AHL game, and 2 seasons in the OHL. clearly, he's not going to be in the top 3 for the US olympic team, especially with Quick, Howard, Anderson, and Miller also at camp.
if the reasoning is for the development of prospects or their learning, it would be highly unfair to all other NHL teams, as he belongs to Anaheim

They probably just want to bring them in to the camp so they know how things work and how elite athletes train.

It's a 2 day camp I believe, so not really your traditional training camp and not really a tryout perse, and there won't be much training going on. It will be on-ice assessments, see which guys may have some early chemistry with other guys, etc etc.

So ridiculous, I somehow feel we're getting slightly gouged. If $287.00 a season isn't enticing enough here have a free jersey, we'll take care of parking and you like concerts cause I got something for you there as well.
