Chart: Boston turns to porn after Game 6 loss in Stanley Cup Final
By Brian Stubits | Hockey writerJune 25, 2013 5:59 pm ET
For many die-hard fans of the sport, hockey is their mistress. It is something to escape with for a while, have some fun with and experience the ultimate thrills.
When the mistress lets you down, you apparently can just turn to, you know, pornography.
That's the conclusion from a study of the metrics done by the good folks at the adult website Pornhub.com. They decided to take a look at their traffic on Monday night in Boston and Chicago. Wouldn't you know it ... between the hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, the site's traffic was down in those two cities from normal levels. Perhaps it had something to do with a certain hockey game between the Bruins and Blackhawks?
Interestingly, when the game ended around 11 p.m. ET, something funny happened. The people in Chicago were busy celebrating their second Stanley Cup in four years, so traffic stayed down. But in Boston? Obviously, it skyrocketed from people looking for a ... relief.
This is what the press release from the site had to say:
Last night marked the end of the NHL Championships, and much like the NBA Finals did, the battle for the Cup managed to take users away from their beloved porn once more. Until, of course the end of the game marking the Bruins' loss, which saw all of Boston turning to Pornhub to take out some of that pent up aggression.
That's right -- the statisticians at Pornhub.com carefully analyzed each hour of the game to track traffic changes in Chicago, Boston, and across the US by the hour; comparing each location relative to the rest of the country.
Yup, that really happened.
Well, there is one takeaway that we can seize from this: hockey is better than porn, but only until you lose the Cup. Yeah, that's it.

Lecavalier buyout frees the Lightning of $7.7m until the 19/20 season. Didn't know he made that much.

Blackhawks should be all over Vinny as a UFA, they need a 2nd line center.

lol i remember the Lecavalier for Luongo rumors....
...We could practically get Vinny for free now
Also remember reading a few years back Montreal wanted Lecavalier; offered:
Price, Pacioretty, a 1st, (Subban or Mcdonagh) for Lecavalier
Tampa declined and Canadians signed Gomez instead.

The buyout is kind of like a reset. It's an opportunity for a guy to bring his pay scale back in line with his performance, and continue playing for teams who would otherwise not be able to afford him. Propal is still getting paid from the Coyotes while playing for the Blue Jackets. Then there's Scotty Gomez, who I think had a pretty good season in San Jose.
Really though, I'd love to see Vinny in Van.
The *Vincouver LeCanucks would kill in 2014! (*we need to work on the name. give us time, he's not even here yet!) |

Also remember who coached Vinny when Tampa won the cup
And then maybe Gillis can get Matty and Sami to talk up Vancouver

werd.
I think Kypreos said it best on twitter. Quote:
Let the Lecavalier to #Canadiens talk officially begin. Still a big strong centre with great hands. He's just not a 10M man.
| except for the Canadiens thing. Those guys are dicks.
Vinny has to know that. And while his bank account is a lot richer today, he's probably feeling a bit of a sting from being dumped by the team who drafted him 1st overall a long time ago. This isn't like an Iginla trade for pucks, this is basically the sports equivalent to a firing.
That's gotta hurt!

What are your thoughts about whether Gillis would trade Edler before his no trade clause is in effect?
Edler's no trade clause starts on July 1st.

That's just nuts - Lecavalier gets "fired", but also $32M.
Almost like winning the lottery.

Edler's no trade clause starts on July 1st. | for the right player/deal anything is possible. I don't think that would be a bad thing either.

I think Emery will be a guy that the Flyers or Islanders target as their #1 guy.
