Because it is the sale on an NHL club. I would say thats pretty large. Its also Schnieds new home. So not huge in the Canucks world, but its hockey news, and this thread is dead.

Not to sound like a complete dick, but it's major news to you because

The Devils have been in financial problems for a long time now.
Really disinterested in the Canucks as of late, Gillian was basically spouting BS off yesterday. Anyone with half a brain can see by watching this years finals that Canucks are no where near contenders the way they are currently constructed. Posted via RS Mobile

You can go to the ends of the earth to build a team that is Cup-worthy, but at the end of the day, especially in this salary cap era, other intangibles such as luck and having your players streak at the right time are huge determinants in how far your team can go. Case in point: Pens from last year. So IMO judging any team's ability to win a cup based on how they look on paper is a complete waste of time, and so is the majority of the regular season.
I think that the coaching change is going to have a major effect on the team. AV has been there for 7 years, and he wasn't pushing them at all. His attitude was, your adults do it yourself. You can't have a competitive team with that attitude.
I think they'll end up 3rd in the division behind LA and San Jose. Edmonton is still too young, Phoenix and Anaheim don't have as much depth, and Calgary just plain sucks.
I honestly don't see much advantage on the 2011 team aside from Ehrhoff and Salo.
It really rests on the core players like the Sedins/Burrows/Kesler/Edler/Bieksa to step the fuck up during that time and lead the rest of the team to play a better game.
Look at Chicago this year. Toews didn't score, Kane would, both of them didn't score, they have other players to step it up.
Alfredsson explains UFA move; Murray, Daly and Barry respond
tl;dr: Alfredsson was planning to retire for 2011-12, Sens asked him to tack on an extra year to old contract for cap reasons and he agreed. NHL doesn't plan to investigate this for cap circumvention. Also Sens GM seems pissed that Alfie left bc his agent didn't call him back for a right to match after Sens best offer of 4.5M--Alfie was paid 1M for 2012-13 so essentially Sens would have paid 2.25M/yr had Alfie agreed to their terms
Landeskog signed 7 years for 39M...dang these kids and their looong contracts with big money. What happened to bridge deals?http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=429823
ehrhoff and salo played a big part on our PP. in the president's trophy years we had a respectable PP. as the PP goes, the team will go. we'll see if torts can utilize garrison more on the PP this year.
