Thou shalt not mention the HPFP. If I don't talk about it it might not break

(I have extended warranty til 2015 just in case, knock on wood)

On a serious and grounded note, as much as I enjoy driving BMWs and there will always be a lust for the E30 M3, there are better cars out there, even some more practical (i.e. ITR.)

If you want the true bmw experience why not buy M?

You are already paying so much for a euro why not buy M?

Paying good money for a car that you will love every time you drive it as rare

I could have bought a e60 m5 but those things suck.

It's all about he experience for me, dont care what bmw it is as long as it a M

What is this "true BMW experience" you are talking about?

I chose my car because it met my budget and suits my needs then and now. A balance of fun and comfiness that makes it an excellent DD. Plus a warranty!

I think I'd have just as much fun driving a 3.0CSL or a 74 2002. I still really like my E30 325i.

M cars are great but uhh...yeah. I don't need 240hp to drive to Whole Foods to pick up 500g of organic dried apricots or Kashi cereal. I'd have just as much fun getting there on my bicycles.

I'll keep it simple.

It's a Honda.

I've never expected such rediculousness from you knight. Usually you come across as someone that understands how cars work, and I certainly respected your choice of an e39 M5, but this is just nonsense.

Non M's are cheaper, and they are still made by bmw. A few mods and it could outperform an M of the same variety for potentially cheaper.
You are already paying so much for a euro why not buy M?
I'd love too, and I will, but my 325is was 5k, and an m3 at the time was minimum 20k

Paying good money for a car that you will love every time you drive it as rare
I could pay less money for a more common car, and afford to fix it.

I could have bought a e60 m5 but those things suck.
Wow what a baller you are. I thought though it provides the true driving experience. Lets hear why it is the only M that sucks

It's all about he experience for me, dont care what bmw it is as long as it a M
And thats what implies that you don't understand BMWs or cars in general, basing a cars ability off of a badge. Go drive an x6M followed by a 135i, and tell me what provides the magical "experience" you are talking about.

The only issue with the E30 M3 is that it is a old car so there is usually lots of upkeep and things that need replacing immediately. An old friend of mine has a 1988 black E30 M3. After paying what I suppose was fair market value a few years ago he's put at least $6k into it just replacing old stuff like bushings, seals, cooling system, sunroof mechanism plus some beautifying. No doubt the car is gorgeous and gets style points all day. After driving it I can't get over the "oldness" of the car. Yeah, it's mechanical, which is what a true driver yearns for. Being connected to the car with as little electronics as possible is what we all want right? But man, after driving it I feel that it's just kinda clunky. I know, flame suit on. whatevs. We've done Squamish runs a few times and definitely gave 'er shit on the Sea to Sky. I dunno, I'd still take my ITR over it anyday.

Having said all of that, would I still what to own one? Fuck yeah I would!

Pic for reference

Sweet jesus. The e30 m3 gives me that lust that a type R doesn't. Its like your supermodel girlfriend that has a bit of a coke problem. I don't think anyone can deny each car has the elements that make them incredible cars, although the elements are different.

Granted, they are different cars designed to serve different purposes. The E30 M3 is without a doubt a "driver's car" but not something I'd daily drive. Seems like every newer generation of M car becomes more "comfortable."

The ITR on the other hand, is comfortable enough to drive to the grocery store, work, and to satisfy the weekend drives on the Sea To Sky while being easy to maintain and comfortable.

Edit: westopher beat me to it.

I don't think there is such thing as a perfect car, its all relative to the trends, to the driver, to the condition. There are so many variables. Some get close, but I never get the hype behind the E30 M3. Its special for sure, but so are all the other M cars, they all have something unique in character about them. NONE of them are perfect imo.

I smell a lot of badge whores and bandwagoners when most people say how much they adore the E30 M3, actually the same goes for a lot of other hyped up cars as well.

The ONLY one that ever comes close is the McLaren F1... forgive me if I am wrong.
