I've wanted to start a local web-based driving show for some time and now I have published the first couple episodes.
The first episode I created was a humble video review of my new BRZ. To my surprise, it's been a huge hit and rapidly made its way across the web via various enthusiast forums.
This is my very first attempt at a car vid, so please keep that in mind as you watch!
The 2nd video details my experience at a recent Porsche Roadshow event in Toronto. Here, I review the entire 2013 Porsche lineup including the new 911 and Cayman S on the track.
Mostly, I'm doing this to combine my love for photography with my passion for cars/bikes and eventually, I want to have involvement from the local community. Different presenters, a variety of content, lots of different stuff. I will also start having motorcycle content as I love motors on two wheels as well.
Here's what I wish to ask:
Besides obviously the car reviews of enthusiast cars and bikes, what type of video content would locals be interested in?
- Coverage of local car events?
- Coverage for autocross events, or track days?
- Autoshow?
- Showcases of local businesses? Tuner shops, etc.?
- Best driving roads in BC?
- How-to stuff? Maybe tech or mechanical stuff?
- Maybe have different experts do demos? e.g. detailers can show us how they remove swirls or polish to a shine.
- A road safety piece?
- Your ideas?
I really want to keep my content enthusiast focused. By that I mean it needs to be catered to an audience who loves cars and motorbikes, loves to drive, and with local content like best driving roads in BC, best BC shops, that kind of thing. So I don't want to review every single econobox out there, or talk about every boring topic exhaustively. Only the interesting stuff.
Also, I'm very much open to having other people present the episodes. If you are good on camera and think you can do an awesome job, please chime in!
But love the idea of a local enthusiast review/webisodes. I think how to's will be too specific and alienate interest, the local roads that are fun to drive would be great though and enthusiast owned shop features.
