It's a long story... Don't really feel like airing my dirty laundry but i will say that "all charges dropped without prejudice" Including a $412 speeding ticket dropped.
Not liking the fact that its no longer one standard car they're using across different departments. Used to be pretty easy to spot a Crown Vic, no matter where you were.
They had 2 black Taurus and 2 chargers running around the city for a couple months to let patrol officers see which one was better.
I think the charger are a good choice for city driving because of the V6 and the fuel shut off switch which cuts fuel but keeps electronics running. The paint scheme is iffy; they just followed the body line of the charger...other vehicle would be full black and white. They also have the paddy wagons running on bluetec 3.0L turbo diesel engine.
I think the city had a say though. I've notice COV ain't sticking to fleet Ford anymore. Instead they are buying anything with the words hybrid, electric, or fuel efficient. I just saw a by-law officer driving a Nissan leaf and a construction worker driving a tundra...
Car looks pretty sick, but not a big fan of the new design. Something closer to the Victoria Police Charger Design that Timpo posted would probably look better

front push bar...radio antenna...silver hub caps are dead giveaways regardless of make.
there was an all black unmarked taurus patrolling the south van-marine dr area a few months back, so it around sw oak a lot. no light bars or bars anywhere
My AFC gave me an ABS CEL code of LOL while at WOT!

Based on aesthetics alone, the Taurus looks like a cheap non-intimidating car. I prefer the Chargers.

Personally I think the Taurus looks terrible as a police car, especially in white. It's a good car but it certainly doesn't make me fear being caught by one. At least the Charger looks relatively badass, especially in black.
Speaking of badass, I realize this is from Transformers but I think the VPD should have gone with this instead:
Believe it or not, the rcmp developed their cars and uniform colours in an attempt NOT to be intimidating...
I've seen one or two completely black new Taurus parked at the VPD building a few times. Even has the push bars and light bar up top so its not a ghost car.
same here. there was an entire row of detective units parked out front the other day when i was going to work... maybe they were being used for evaluation/testing on the field and will eventually be taken out of service when their time is up?

lol. I just don't want our police force to be like the British. No, I don't want them to be all intimidating and shit, but neither do I want them driving around in Vauxhal Astra diesels with a terrible siren. If I ever got arrested by something like that, I'll still be laughing as they shove me into a jail cell.
Don't get me wrong; I'd still respect the police regardless of what they drove, but I just think life should be slightly more like the movies where police forces actually drive cars that look the part.
Keep in mind that VPD patrol officers do not transport their prisoners. They call for the Paddy Wagon.
RCMP vehicles do have a cage in the back and they transport their own prisoners. Also if RCMP struck a deal with Ford it's probably to help accommodate all the Northern detachments which would use Explorers and not just the Taurus.
From a purely aesthetic point of view, the Dodge Charger is much more appealing.
