window tint percentage? Best or decent tint film?

Hi all, just wondering how does the window tinting go by? is it the higher the number, the more light is shining in or the lesser tint? 80% tint is 80% light allowed in?

Where can I purchase decent tint film? what brand etc.. I recently browsed walmart and canadian tire but not sure which to purchase. I wold just like to tint my front windows very lightly. I know it is illegal and I am accepting the consequences in the future if any. Thanks!

first I would never buy tinting film from dept store, those are too thick and will give you bubbles and wrinkles.

took me 3 attempts and hours of youtube to get it right with proper tools, I bought my films and tools online. 50% is the only film used, otherwise it is difficult to see at night

I like 50-60% with a slight mirror... It gives you the privacy of "limo tint" without the ghetto, reflects heat better, and is more visible at night.

Pretty sure you can buy solargard from n-motion and other places that do tint.

% = amount of light that can pass through

lower % = darker

I'm going with 35% on back of TL next week.

...and lots of examples of different tints on different cars here under their archives menu:

25% to 30% is perfect for all season. During the winter, you will still be able to see outside

Does anyone have front tints here that get pulled over often? I purchased 50% solarguard supreme today. Hopefully it doesnt attract cops. It is slightly tinted. Not dark at all. What soaps and window cleaner is best to use for application?

i've had 20 on my rears before, night visibility was a little reduced, but nothing that a normal person can't easily adjust to. also, it was only a slight issue if no one else was around. when there are other cars, their headlights do more than enough to light everything up.

I know Richmond Mitsubishi has put on 50% (or maybe even lighter? I dont know my tints) on the front windows of my friend's Evo. My friend bought the showroom/demo car that was parked inside their building.

We didnt notice the tint at all, until he had a break in some month later, and we went to broco to replace his passenger front window, and noticed the difference btw his new passenger non tinted factory glass to his original driver side glass

but just putting it out there, my friend never got in any trouble for his super super light tinted front windows on his evo

Cool, hopefully no trouble for me ! I've seen so many cars with literally 20% tint front windows at red light with cops and nothing happens.

a 500ml spray bottle, clean water + 5 drops of Dettol
shake it well, spray shit load of it to clean the glass (both sides), then rub it hard with a towel, if you see dust or micro fiber then use newspaper to wipe it off.

Cut a small piece of the film and practice with it on your window.

@doritos : i had 35% all around in my maxima when i owned it. never got hassled. i think it just depends what car its going on. My car being all stock and stuff prob doesn't attract a whole lot compared to if i was going to go 35% all around in a lowered/modded car

stock matrix. front tinted at 30%. got busted by a cop on marine drive years ago. i think it just really depends on the officer.
