Either the butcher fucked up, or you went in late, and people really wanted it. Cause there's usually 1 or 2 left over for the morning.
Btw, don't order it until 8-9PM. Let them sell out the leftovers first.

She thinks pineapple buns actually have pineapple in them. She even defends herself in the comments saying how that's what it says on the label.

Maybe she does think lotus paste and salted egg yolk tastes like pineapple as she defend it in her comments Anyone confirm?
I find it disconcerting that she acknowledges her errors but fails to correct the mistakes in her blog posts. Not everyone will comb through the comments.

*headdesk* | Actually I think she was referring to the pineapple pastry (the Taiwanese style). But the one in the picture had a ham dan yolk in it, so you'd have to assume that it is not a pineapple pastry... Someone said it was a lotus seed pastry (so basically an "all year round" moon cake) or it could have been mung bean. To me, the colour looks like it is pineapple paste...
But her description was simply that it tasted like "pineapple candy", and that was that. She went on for ages about pei dan, but she just ate a fucken sweet pastry with a salted duck egg yolk in it, and made no mention of it.. that is kind of weird. Is she even eating this stuff? |

The comments section reminds me of fight club.
There's nothing wrong with honest, constructive, criticism, because Lindsay is not an expert on Asian cuisine, and that's fine because she clearly was not hired on that basis. The comments repeatedly pointing out that she doesn't dine at exclusively restaurants, and the blatantly stupid posts insinuating that she's choosing inexpensive options to pocket her stipend, or that she should have dined at every Chinese bakery in Richmond, people should just keep to themselves. Clearly, the direction of the blog is not to dine exclusively at restaurants and I much prefer that. If the writing style isn't for you, why not just move along? If I were a tourist reading the blog, I wouldn't be inclined to not visit Richmond as a result of the illogical hostility that plagues the comment section.
I'm sure at least a few of the people spamming stupidity are from here, because this is RS afterall, there's no shortage of idiots, so I'm expecting a whole avalanche of fails from this post.

I agree that insinuating that she is pocketing her stipend is pretty fucked up, but other than that, they all seem to be valid complaints. I think it's good to have a mix of restaurants and snacks, but if it's all snacks what's the point?
Tourism Richmond flat out took this blog idea in the wrong direction. They hired the wrong person, and the results are speaking for themselves. People are upset that their city is being poorly represented, and I agree with them there.
I haven't read the blog until just now, so I am not really aware of all the trolling that might be going on. I saw the stipend comment you mentioned, but the rest are complaints about not enough restaurants, and her making stupid mistakes and not correcting them. Mistakes that a local would not have made, which only adds fuel to the fire.

And yeah, i'm pretty surprised she didn't write about the salted duck egg in that pastry. It's the obvious thing to mention about that pastry.
I'm just a bit annoyed with the lack of research going into her posts and her silly mistakes that really shouldn't be there.
