| Lease Takeover
I'm looking to do a lease takeover to avoid upfront costs (e.g. Admin fees, security deposit, extended care fees)
Mainly looking at A4/A5, 3 series, and c class and I have no plans to keep it.
Do accidents matter in a lease takeover? Other than mileage and term, assuming the existing lessee takes care of the transfer fees and have extended care plans, what should I look for? Posted via RS Mobile |

Anything that could be deemed excess wear and tear upon returning the car at the end of your lease term - body damage, curbed wheels etc.
The dealer would charge for any excess items when you drop off the car. Think of it kind of like the walk-around that is done when you drop off a rental car.

If you take over someone's lease, there's usually a dealer fee that ranges from $300-$800, you would have to negotiate with the seller who will be paying this fee.
Accidents do not matter as long as you don't write off the car and what Kev said, any damage to the car when you give it back, they will charge you for it.

Make sure u know what ur getting urself into, open or closed lease (most are closed end), wear and tear expectations (I had a $2000 insurance policy for 'additional wear and tear' when I did a lease takeover - original lessee paid for this insurance... Not something I'd pay for, but nice to have for free)
Also, see what they put down, the person u takeover from should pay all fees and induce u to do the takeover, either super low mileage, big downpayment they're walking away from, or cash upfront
If u just do a straight takeover without an inducement, ur doing it wrong

I think Mercedes charge $1500 or something stupid for lease takeover fees ( I could be wrong, as I didn't pay it, so didn't care what it was)

Damn, the listing is gone.
I was looking at a Mercedes C300, the existing lessee:
- $13k down payment, asking for $5k back
- $550 per month
- 24 months left on a 36 month lease
- MB wear and tear plan
- $2k damage deposit back to the new lessee at the end of term
I looked at it last night and thought it was a good deal. Too bad it's gone within a day.

If you saw it on Craigslist, then I've seen a car with similar details posted a long time ago at least a few months.. I think the person deletes the ad and repost it to make it look like a new ad. Posted via RS Mobile
