Picked up a weekend/track day car
Its a 93 talon TSI.
I'm sure everyone knows what it is/ capable of but for those of you that do not.
200hp all wheel drive 2.0L tubro. very similar engine and drivetrain as the Mitsubishi Evo's 1-3 . with light modifications they can be pushed to almost 300whp and high 12's in the 1/4mile.
here is I think the fastest minimal mod setup to date
(copied from BCDSM)
Mods:
3" Turbo back
Aircan removed w/ K&N
Turbo XS Boost contoller
Removed upper and lower honeycomb in MAS
Removed some weight (Not gutted by any means...still has interior panels and all)
My own brand of tweaks and tuning.
So basically exhaust, filter and boost.
The rest of the car is STOCK. No no I mean *REALLY* stock.
NO port work
NO synthetics
NO Dump Mod
Stock O2 Housing
Stock clutch
He also had Sunoco 116 Oct fuel
First run 12.7@107mph running 17psi in first and second, creep to 20psi in third and fourth.
The car I purchased has the honeycomb in the mas removed and k&N with filter housing mod. I have no delusions of being able to replicate what he did it's just an example.
So far I am really impressed. I never really been into these cars because it looks like a door stop and they are getting pretty old. This one has a rebuilt engine and everything under the hood is in tip top shape. no shaft play in the turbo. great compression. I'm going to wait a while before I start buying turbo, injectors , intercooler and stand alone ecu/DCM link.
it's been about 2 years since I've owned a turbo car ( celica gt-four/ mkiii Supra) and completely forgot how freaking awesome they are.
If there are any 4g63 Guru's on this site please let me know I have a few questions about oil pump timing. and carrier bearings.
I miss my DSM so much! Congrat's on a great car, hope you don't mind spending time under the hood! Seems like you'll be okay! A great sleeping monster! Would love to pick another one up for shits n giggles.
