2009 Tiguan Highline SD card issues

I recently purchased a 09 Tiguan (SEL/highline) with RNS510 and decided to try my SD card slot tonight....

I put some music on the card and plug it in the slot and got an error message.

Anyone had a similar problem?

I am pretty technically inept so the simpler the better

TIA

Might be the formatting of your SD card -- if you're using it on a PC most of the time its NTFS file format -- most car stereos prefer FAT32

For windows 7:
Pretty easy fix, insert SD card into your PC
click windows icon, type in "Format", click "Create and Format hardisk partitions"
Find your SD card from the list once it populates, follow along, format it from NTFS to FAT32

EDIT:
Ya, SD card needs to be FAT32

older SD readers in cars will not play SDHC cards you need a non HC sd card. Locally the largest you will fing is 2 GB but on E-bay you can find one made by topmean that's 4 GB. same thing happened in my 09 Audi. i ended up picking up a 2 pack from London drugs.

THANKS!

Yeah, I did what Dhillon suggested and still no luck.

I'll go pick up a non HC cd card and see if that is the issue.

no USB slot? I would imagine that a flash drive would be easier. I had no idea cars came with SD slots now.

yeah, its that lil slot on the bottom. its a pretty nice option...i can transfer to vehicle's hard drive so although it sucks i can only get a 2gb CD card, i can just move it over.
