Hey everyone, I'm planning to fix up the exterior of my car by the end of summer and these are the things I've noticed. I took these photos on my phone so please bear with me and these were taken right after I had just finished washing the car.

1. Paint chips. What are some easy and fairly cheap solutions for fixing paint chips?

2. Scratches. There are light scratches underneath the handles, and some around the car. They do not catch on your finger nails when you run them across. Will a polish remove these scratches or would I also need a compound?

3. Rust. There are some rust spots (rail dust) on the paint and rust in some paint chips. Will claying the car remove the rust spots? Or would I need a rubbing compound and polisher?

With paint silver will be a pain, it will always a bit weird even if you feather it.

For the scratches under the door handle, some polish should work.

Polish for all those scratches looks like it will improve the look of them immensely. I used autogylm's super resin polish and my scratches were very hard to notice. If you want, a machine polish could possibly *remove* the scratches. As for rust, I only had a speck about 2mm in size. Just got the tip of my paint pen, removed the rust. Painted and cleared.

I was planning to wash, clay, polish, and wax my car on monday. So it seems like the rust spots and scratches can be removed by polish? And the paint scratches I'll probably have to live unless I want to buy a touch up kit but it'll be too hard to match the silver paint.
