It’s even cheaper in Bellingham, lol. I haven’t filled a jerry can in almost two months. I just drive down to gamble, shop, and fill up the ILX. Electric vehicles, ftmfw!

I suspect the gas at PR would be slightly more like the gas stations right on the strip in Blaine. D street is where it's at though, a lot cheaper.

Was at PR last night, hit the Shell just down the road it was $3.479/gallon so that's about $1.14 ish i think. Still cheaper but whatever my focus was to pick up packages so gasing half a tank and saving a grand total of $2 was secondary but I see the appeal of going down all the time but I don't drive enough or live close enough to really reap the benefits.

It would be funny if CBSA pulled him in to pay tax on the gas. I spoke to one officer and he said that they generally will let a few gas cans go but anything excessive will get pulled in. Lol

If I was a border guard and saw the back of that truck, I'd just wave him through in fear of catching some weird cooties.
Or, if there was an asshole I didn't like on duty in the inspection area just let them take that truck apart, gulolol.

Man the lane discipline on the I-5 is ridiculous nowadays. It seems our hwy 99 is a better place to drive than I-5 between bellingham and tulalip.
Literally more cars in the left lane than right the entire time. Even when there are gaps, they don't bother moving over anymore. One guy even took it as offense when getting passed on the right so he started road raging going in front of me and going slow on purpose. Americans with nothing better to do smh...

I drive to Richmond/Vancouver at least five times a week, to Bellingham at least twice a week, Lynnwood at least once a month.
Trust me, nothing is worse than the 99. NOTHING.
I can't speak for anyone else, but most people on I-5 do drive the speed limit at the very least. I have driven several times from the border to Lynnwood or further with cruise control set at 70mph for at least 3/4 of the way. It is definitely possible. This is definitely not the case on the 99 or any other BC highway, where people in the left lane are often doing 10 under the speed limit. From what I've seen, the left lane is actually used as a passing lane in WA, where the left lane here is used as the c-lai express.
Also, I can't recall ever being cut off by anyone on the I-5, whereas I get cut off by people with broken turn signals at least a few times a week on the 99.

thankfully I'm rarely on the southern stretches of 99 during rush hour so I can't compare
but locals either dgaf because it's a small 'town' or for some it's their way of sticking it to the Canadians
people are a bit more religious about pass/speedy only left lane when you close in on the Seattle metro area...but they still have a pretty awful congestion problem during peak times
still...even speed limit means 100 or 120kph so it doesn't aggravate me as much

Wow, I've always felt the I-5 to be leagues better than our local highways.
When we drive down to Washington, or Oregon, I find Americans are quite good at getting out of the left lane to allow you to pass. I find it's actually cars with BC plates that don't follow the same mentality when on the highways down there. In BC, it's absolutely brutal.
I've always found it really interesting, the marked difference between the driving habits on the HWY of BC drivers vs Washington drivers. ICBC clearly isn't training people properly in this Province.

This reminds me of my trip to to Portland 2 years ago and how on my way back to Van I started out with really nice friendly and courteous drivers in Portland then when I hit Seattle it was your standard I5 driving and then when I crossed the border back to Canada that within literally I swear 1-2 minutes I started to experience the bullshit we do here in BC i.e. left lane hogging BS and just people driving like they bought their licence or something. Turned to my wife, and said this is how we know we're home.

Strangely enough though, WA drivers in BC do the same shit BC drivers do and hog the left lanes, refusing to move even when you're right up on their ass. Lost count of the number of times I've been behind a car with WA plates refusing to get out of the left lane. They seem to follow our speed limits religiously.
Is there something weird in our air that makes people do stupid shit on our roads or...?
What's everyone's experience here with bringing tires back? About to bring back a set of tires which cost me just under $400 CAD. I've had friends waved through with more than double that amount worth of tires, but I also got called in once for a $300 catback. I won't be getting the tires put on the car while I'm down there so not sure if there's a difference between getting tires installed down there, or bringing the tires back in say the trunk.

Since getting my Nexus, I haven’t paid tax/duty once ( I buy a lot online). Most recently I bought a new Arai motorcycle helmet for $499US. Popped down to Sumas to grab it, declared it and the officer didn’t bat and eye. I was down 3 times last week for things, rarely even get questioned on the value.

I remember the odd time I got taxed. Declared that I went down for gas. Was asked how many Jerry cans I brought back. Said I got 4 cans in the trunk, after that I was sent in to pay tax on it
But now when I cross the border, I bring back some groceries and declare it together as gas and groceries. Haven't been taxed since then.

Getting taxes or not is a pointless discussion, it’s totally random... I probably get hauled in about 1/20 times regardless of the dollar amount... I don’t know if it helps but I always give them such deference with a sir or ma’am and act like they have all the power give them their 30 seconds of “Yah I’m the big dog and I own your ass” feeling and then drive away. I’ve been told I have a very trusting face. Lol
