Oh Jesus fuck - maybe do some research first... U've gone from fwd frugal 4cyl to rwd relative gas eater v6 (I assume they take 91oct and get 12 or so l/100km) in 5 minutes.

I fear for you, I really do.

What do u need? What do you want? What do you know? Make sure all these questions can be answered and that the answer doesn't fluctuate.

I've pissed off many car salespeople due to my impulsive actions and not going forward with them...but at the end of the day, its your money... and they have no right to tell you how to spend it.

Gazorcoop 08-16-2013 07:44 AM

Salesmen at dealerships have to remember they're selling automobiles, not clothes or electronics. There is not much room for error when it comes to taking your pick.

That being said, go back and apologize. Compensate with a full tank of gas if you are generous.

So you don't like the car. Take it back, there's nothing wrong with not liking the car, if you are in the market for a vehicle, just tell them this wasn't what you wanted, tell them to find you another car. Doesn't have to be awkward.

Unless you never intended to buy anything in the first place. THEN you are just being a dick.

Thanks for the advice. Just got off work and I'm going to return it now.

Will update on how it goes.

lowside67 08-16-2013 02:57 PM

God I hope they "make" you buy it.

Here's how it goes for normal ppl:
"Salesperson, I'm really sorry, after much consideration I've decided that I can't go forward with the purchase of this vehicle at this time, but I do greatly appreciate your willingness to allow me to have the vehicle over the last 24 hours. To show my gratutude I have filled the tank full of chevron's finest. She's a fine vehicle, but it's just not for me right now, at that price. again, thank you so much, and I apologize if I have wasted your time. Good day to you sir"

If your story veers off from this script, other than the chevron part - you might as well just give up on life now.

I would laugh if you end up coming home with the vehicle registered to you, though :) unless you can actually negotiate a half decent price for it ($13k - I'd be proud of you)

dared3vil0 08-16-2013 03:28 PM

I just find it funny how OP wasn't even concerned with the fact that he was about to overpay for a car by ~4k, just if he was able to "return" it.

how hard is it to do some basic research for a price range of what you want in a car?

Most buyers narrow down a list of a few cars and asks the pro/con of each car and if there's better alternatives.

Don't forget to thank the dealers for their time and patience. Just be glad you aren't committed to this car.

mr_chin 08-16-2013 06:06 PM

I would just put in the gas I used and return it.

Although verbal agreement is effective in court, unless they have evidence, you're not obligated to pay for anything.

Dealership let me take home car without any paperwork or money. Now not sure if - Bodybuilding.com Forums

rofl nvm its the same op

dboy 08-16-2013 07:43 PM

So here's how it went down:

I filled up the gas tank before I got there. I apologized and told the sales person that this wasn't the car for me. He asked why and I said what I told you guys, uncomfortable seats, etc. Then he got the sales manager and he talked to me about why I didn't want the car, if he could show me some other cars. Told him I wasn't ready to buy this car right now.

He asked me if the price was the problem and said that it was a REALLY good price. But judging by the responses in this thread, I think not.

They were very professional about it. The sales manager was asking me if I wanted to see the other cars in the same price range. Then he said he would be right back while he went to go get my deposit but I didn't put in a deposit. Then we shook hands and parted ways.

tonyzoomzoom 08-16-2013 07:50 PM

Glad to hear everything worked out.

Splinter 08-16-2013 07:55 PM

Is this car really worth $13k? I been looking online a lot and I don't ever see any 08+ Accord EX-L coupes for below $17k.
