same thing happened when Heath Ledger was first announced to play the Joker.
everyones to quick to judge.
thing is ben affleck already played a superhero like batman in a batman like movie, which sucked terrible ass, whereas heath ledger has never really played a villainous role.
IMO he doesn't have the physicality of batman, he's kinda skinny fat lol...if the movies coming out in 2015 he better start hitting the gym today lol
anyways there better not be any boston bullshit in gotham city lol
Hm. I'm on the fence here. Think it all depends on how he tries to play the character. If they keep the darker character Bale has been playing, I think Ben might pull it off. If they try to change Batman back into more of a family friendly character like 90's Batman, they're setting him up for failure BIG TIME.
At least he'll annunciate though.

So I guess we can expect a Matt Damon cameo now in this? lol

I, too, agree that people give him too much flack than deserved. I think Batman has always been heavily dependent on storyline and directing, not so much acting. Even with Christian Bale he was not spectacular in the role or anything, just that Christopher Nolan did such an amazing job with the story and directing.
Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

It is just hard seeing Affleck other than Ben Affleck as batman. It is is similar to how tom cruz is pretty much himself in all his films. He needs to get completely lost in the role in order to go beyond his real life persona.
who knows though, it could be a good casting choice.

I disagree, i thought bale was great and played the role well, especially in batman begins. he is a good actor, and looked the part of batman. Half the battle is looking like the guy ur suppose to play. He looked good in a suit i.e american pyscho, and has that rugged scary built look that can beat up bad guys, with afleck u just dont see that yet. Posted via RS Mobile

Don't get me wrong, he did well in Batman and he is an AMAZING actor, but I felt him playing Batman is not much of a challenge acting-wise as compared to a role like Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.
If it weren't for Bale I am sure it wouldn't have been as epic as the series has been, but I feel more of the credit goes to Nolan for story and direction than Bale's acting. If a lesser actor played the same role for Nolan, I think it still would've been very good, just not great.

When it comes to evaluating Ben Affleck’s acting ability, Matt Damon isn’t exactly in the most objective position. After all, the two actors have been good friends since childhood, have appeared in multiple films together, and co-wrote the screenplay for Good Will Hunting together, an accomplishment which landed the duo an Oscar. So it goes without saying that anything Damon says publicly about Affleck is probably going to be pretty positive.
Nevertheless, Damon launched a fairly effective defence of his friend in an interview with The Times of India. Asked about the enormous Internet backlash surrounding the announcement that Affleck would play Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, Damon had this to say: “It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw Argo or The Town, and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that.”
When the Affleck/Batman news first broke, many automatically assumed that it meant that Damon would be playing Robin. But Damon has helpfully set the record straight on this matter: “I am a little older than Ben. I never saw Robin as older than Batman. Somebody sent me a picture actually [of his face photoshopped on Robin's body and Affleck's on Batman's]. It was really funny. But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.”

completely agree. The problem with Ben Affleck playing batman is he is always Ben Affleck playing a character. Every single time his face shows up on screen you will see ben affleck in a costume. Its too hard to take serious. You dont see Bale in a batman costume, you see batman. And like you said, Tom Cruise is the same.
