Has a new clutch and fairly new tires. However, paint on rims is peeling.
When I checked out the car. things that really stood out was that there was no oil in the engine. No records either. He said his friend is a mechanic and just changes things when they are broken.
I am just curious how much you would have offered for a car like that or would you have just walked away.
Be aware that these Subaru 2.5 non-turbo motors had head gasket issues. I believe Subaru recommended changing the coolant often and use their "coolant conditioner". I'd probably walk if there aren't good maintenance records.
It's going into the mechanic friend for after hours parts. How much shit is actually breaking?
A clutch disc at 120,000kms? I know this isn't unheard of, and it could be a Subaru thing, but that seems like a fast replacement to me. They also conveniently put tires on at the same time.
bear in mind no oil on the dipstick doesnt necessarily mean no oil in the crankcase. some cars will have no oil on the dipstick when its only down half a quart or so.
I did take it for a test drive. It drives really nicely, but I don't know for how much longer LOL. I did end up offering him $5500. When he heard my offer, he was about to slap me in the face and told me good bye.
What can I say... He was a dentist. Posted via RS Mobile
anytime you are looking to buy any car with little to no records take it to a trusted mechanic first. Have them look it over it'll save you thousands in the long run.

Sounds like they did start it without oil, that right there should tell you to run.
they will know more about this sort of thing and maybe someone there has or knows someone who has what you want for sale.
