Ford Pinto with a 460ci V8 crammed into it.
STi would be the smart choice, though I'm not sure you can find one in Canada for that amount of money that isn't a Kingsway special.
NSX would be the fun choice, but you'll probably want another car to be a DD.
Skyline is a car nerd's dream but I guarantee you'll see a million of 'em within the next year or two. Maybe not GTR spec but there will be enough floating around that no one will look twice at 'em. And this is a personal aside but I think they're overrated.
edit: Just realized you mentioned you've already got a truck as a DD, so NSX it.

Buying an older car can get you cars from your own "dream car portfolio" I'll likely never have the money to walk into a ferrari dealership and buy a new car, but you can be sure I'll blow my cash on one of these well before I'm 40

120k for a 20 year old car is low milage...esp for Honda reliability. Parts might be harder to find locally = $$

My vote goes for
NSX, 4 gen supra, Dodge Viper GTS, C6 Z06, maybe a classic muscle car? There really is a lot of choices out there. Good luck with the search, post pics when you do make a selection and take ownership!

Your post says that you are looking for a track car.
If that's the case, an STi is truly an AWFUL choice in anything close to stock form. 300hp isn't nearly as much fun as it would sound when it's attached to a floppy car that understeers like crazy and cooks its brakes (which is unfortunately true of virtually every stock car).
If you truly want a track car that is fun and reliable to run as hard as you can all day at lapping days, there is no stock car that is going to survive that. Different cars have different weak spots - STi is brakes, E46 M3 is oil cooler, etc. All cars short of a Z06 or a GT3 will be miles better with camber plates, coilovers, and swaybars. All cars will require a set of wheels and tires. So don't spend $30k on the car or it will not be fun to track - you are much better spending max $22,500 and spending the rest on the NECESSARY modifications to make that car go quick!
You seem to be set on Japanese cars - buy a nice S2k for around $20k, add hardtop, rollbar, suspension, wheels/tires and go run it all day. You'll run quick times and the car will be lots of fun to drive - lively, responsive, RWD - actual "Fun!"
If it were me, I'd do the same thing with an E36 M3 - buy one for $12k, spend about $10k on the modifications I have listed and you can go run with damn near anything with extreme reliability. I ran my 328IS for years in a relatively unmodified form - bolt ons, suspension, etc. and it was the most satisfying car I've ever tracked.
And on the other hand if you want to lap FAST - buy a C5 Z06 for $20k, add $10k in modifications for safety and reliability, and you can run with anything up to a 997 GT3 RS. Figure on being faster than 99% of all cars you will EVER see out at a track day.
My $0.02
Mark

That said, there are a few NSX's out there going for roughly $30k. Personally I would save up a bit more and start looking around the $40k mark as those ones tend to have a bit less mileage and are often unmolested by previous owners thinking they can modify them.
Alternatively: 1991 porsche 911 :

If it had to be a choice between those 3 cars.
For track I'd go with R34
For reliability and ease of getting parts STI
For the beauty the NSX
If I had an NSX I'd be too worried to track the car. 30k would probably only get you an earlier model which IMO is underpowered compared to the newer cars nowadays. (270hp/210tq) Being N/A, getting some real power out of it will be costly.
Like lowside said, if your main purpose is for track, I would choose something else cheaper and build it up to my liking. We all know how expensive modding becomes. And if you "mod car with cheap pasts" you're doomed.
If its mainly a weekend warrior type of car and maybe bring it to the track once a year for leisurely racing, then I'd go with the NSX. You ain't going to be all that competitive with other cars, but it'll still be fun.

if it were me personally though, id spring for a corvette. its reliable and maintenance doesn't cost an arm and a leg and the aftermarket is huge. sure its a surrey jacks dream car(mine included) but its not like that matters when you're living out your dreams.
my dream is to buy a c6 corvette (or zo6) and drive it down the PCH into california and just cruise the highways around california. oh and maybe zip across the states depending on time and money constraints.
