I bought some tags a while back and was playing around with my Galaxy Nexus for a while, its interesting the things you can do with them ... one way to get some tags for free is when I was in Vegas, some hotels use NFC as their room keys so you can erase them and put in whatever you want ...

I've been using ChompSMS for a year now, both on my GS3 and when I switched to my N4. At the time, I tried Handcent and Go SMS. Both I had problems with. I remember Go SMS had holiday graphics that went across the screen and you couldn't disable them = instant uninstall.

I originally got Chomp because it had emojis, but now the N5 has them. Chomp just works well in most cases, and the popup is nice. I've had issues with MMS and group messages though. Some people can receive MMS, some can't. And also, there is no search function for old conversations. You have to scroll manually, or text them again to bump it up.

When I get my N5 I'm going to try Hangouts, then Textra, Sliding, and 8sms and see what works best.

Chomp is not optimized for 4.4 kitkat right now, until they do an update.

I believe that's the location services using WiFi.

You have to go into the advanced settings in wifi and then disable "Scanning always available"

One thing thats bothering me from the move from S2 to Nexus.

In my S2 the contacts synced and updated email address/facebook/whatsapp/kakaotalk/etc and it would add a profile picture from facebook or another app.

In my nexus its only adding gmail accounts. What am I doing wrong?

i had this problem with my nexus 4

iirc when i looked it up it was some disagreement between facebook and google which did not allow the sync to be successful

i tried searching for methods to sync it but did not find a solution. please post here if you find a way
