received my replacement phone today. UPS left it at the front door :rage: My loose hardware button is noticeable better. still has some play but it doesn't make an annoying sound. got another 3K11 batch. it didn't include the hardware version update with bigger speaker holes... |
DAMN JAPAN!!! So I finally got a Japanese SIM for my Canadian Nexus 5 (B Mobile data only 1GB 30 days 4G/LTE). After activating and installing it, my camera now makes a mandatory loud shutter sound every time I snap a photo, even in silent/vibrate ringer mode. When I had my Fido SIM in, the camera was silent. EDIT: my phone is rooted. I tried a suggested fix my deleting the audio file for the camera (system>media>audio>ui>camera_click.ogg) but it won't work, says operation failed. I've tried in both ES File Exploreer and Androzip file manager. Titanium Backup confirms i'm rooted... |
Its frowned upon not to have it enable in Japan. |

Quick question. I want to upgrade from cataclysm 4.4.1 to 4.4.2, how do I backup all my apps and data (sms, mms etc.)? |
^ Titanium Backup? |

You should be able to flash overtop. Battery finally improved for me. I went back to the matching radio ROM as I had problems the first time. Hit 20+ hours the other day at 40% left. |
But what was your screen on time? No usage doesn't count :p Posted via RS Mobile |
It was around 3 hours or so. Even now I'm at 65% with 2 hours SOT. |

I installed Root Browser and deleted the audio file successfully...silent photo taking for me now. :D Honestly I've seen other Japanese (men and women) with camera sound disabled... Government half added attempt to lower sexusl harassment I'm sure. How about not forcing high school girls to wear such short skirts...no joke...seen this all over Umeda, Osaka... Exactly the same as you. Lol. |
They attempted to deliver my phone today, but my buzzer system happens to be broken and I didn't know... Now I won't get my phone from the UPS store until the 27th when they reopen! :fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu: I really wanted to play with it Xmas morning :( |
Moral of the story - if you're going to have stuff delivered, make sure that the buzzer works at least..... |
Other than touchwiz on the S4 how does the phone compare to the Samsung S4 in general? |

Sorry this is question regarding S4, and it seems the S4 thread is mostly about minor issues. I received a S4 i9508 as a gift. Basically, the i9508 is exactly the same as the Google Play Edition S4, or AT&T or Rogers/Bell etc., EXCEPT for its radio. i9508 runs GSM, but on top of that, it has both regular 3G, and TD-SCDMA , which is 3G in China. Because of the difference in radio, those who have tried to flash the Google Play image onto the phone fails at 95% and end up having doing many small steps to get 3G and wifi working. Since hardware is basically the same, can I, extract the radio out of my S4 right now, download a custom rom for GSM S4, take apart the custom rom and insert my i9508 radio into the custom rom, and flash the custom rom into my phone? edit: the i9508 radio works on Fido network here Reason why I want to flash a rom is because the i9508 comes preinstall with bloatware and no Google Play Store (replaced with China variant) Any suggestions greatly appreciated. edit: If someone could walk me through it, I'll gladly treat them to a meal. |
Hey I just had the phone delivered today by UPS and I was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for transferring your game data from your old phone to the new phone. My old Galaxy Nexus is not rooted and I haven't tried to root this phone either. Also, I been trying to transfer my media files via usb. However, my PC refuses to detect my phone as a media device only as a camera device. I've been searching for a solution from multiple sources. However, nothing seems to work. I feel like I have no other solution other than just reformatting my pc and starting fresh again. It is really frustrating using their default notifications |
just find it stupid how for each nexus i have to root and install a custom kernel in order to have proper sound quality from auxiliary cables |
is there a way to set different volumes for different tasks/situations? like i would like my ringer volume low/off but system sounds to still be on and music to be loud, etc. profiles? (yes these are things i miss from symbian too) |

theres are some apps like profile but im not sure if they're as good like on symbian. its also available on DroidKang ROM which im using right now, pretty sweet actually. |

Ringer, Notification, Alarms, and "Music, video games & other media" each has its own volume level For much more fine grain settings, there will be apps that allow you to set different profiles that will switch between various combinations you like. You can even use NFC tags to set them.. IE when you get home, swipe your phone and it will disable the ringer or whatever you want to do. Put a tag by the door so you can swipe when you leave, put one in your car and swipe it there, etc. If there's a feature you think you miss from any other OS, there is most likely a version of it on Android. |
