Any way to turn off the annoying beep when I press end call?

Mr.HappySilp 01-16-2014 01:34 PM

Phone arrived! but simcard doesn't fit -_-

Coren 01-16-2014 02:13 PM

Just switched to Rogers from Wind. Does the phone stay in LTE and not drop down to 3G when it's idling? Also does it not drop to 3G when the LTE reception is spotty?

Done! feels good to have a nexus device. However it seems Some widget that I use to use on my note 2 doesn't work 4.4.2 ...... for WidgetLocker Lockscreen I can't seem to replace the clock with glass weather widget anymore :okay:

Kaolinite 01-18-2014 12:10 AM

someone probably asked already .. but has anyone done the camera mod?

After having owned this phone from new since November..I think I can safely say it's one of the worst phones I've ever had the displeasure of dailying. I've owned 3 different Google Nexus phones, iPhones, Blackberrys, etc. This phone really takes the cake in terms of pure shittiness. From build quality issues to the many, many, MANY software problems..I'm completely sick of this thing. I've said it before, but I don't think this phone was ready for the market. LG/Google pushed it out too fast. Yes, it's extremely fast/powerful(when it's actually working smoothly), but the many glitches take away from it.
I left my last Nexus phone completely stock because it was relatively stable and reliable. I never really had to root it and mess around with it. With the N5, I think it's completely necessary to fix the software problems.

Good thing you're the exception and not the rule! :awwyeah:

I've found the n5 to be the smoothest nexus/android experience to date. No problems here.

No issue here other than a few apps that I use still have glitches because it have not been updated for 4.4 yet.

Rock stable here. Averaging over 25 hours battery life and haven't had to even restart the phone in a month. This is probably the best android experience I've ever had in all my android devices.

Gucci Mane 01-19-2014 09:33 AM

My phone in stock form has been perfect for me. No major hiccups that I've noticed yet. Its shitty that kwy keeps ending up with lemons.

Nexus 5 is probably one of the best phones out there right now.

I got the offical wireless charger form Google. Works great! If you don't use a case the magnets holds the hold is place pretty well. If you use a case it don't really hold it in place but still have to charge the phone just fine. I am using the Neo Hybrid case and it charges the phone no problem.

Case is solid fits the phone well, Able to plug my earphone in and seems it can protect my phone pretty well. The back of the case is made with some kind of rubber so it doesn't slip but yet doesn't attract finger prints. Side is plastic buttom works just fine very responsive.

I got my n5 just after xmas and sold my n4 to my brother for half of what I paid for the n5. I'm super happy with this phone, and really noticed how certain things are just that much better over the n4. Having LTE is awesome, the battery life is MILES better, it's quick and smooth.
I haven't rooted it, I just use Nova Launcher and it does everything I want it to. What else could I want it to do by rooting it?
BTW I use the Spigen Slim Armor case, it's pretty great. And front and back screen guards from Xtremeguard. They have crazy sales every so often so I got like 3 sets for $10.

Maybe I just got a lemon. 4.4.2 16gb model. Bought new from Google, running on the wind Mobile network. Never rooted. About once a day the UI likes to crash. Once froze completely on a webpage and was unresponsive to any commands. Held down the power button for over 10s multiple times without any response. Finally responded to a forced power off about 4 hours later..I'm probably lucky the display wasn't damaged. Volume controls often decide to not work properly. Doesn't know when to change the phone volume vs media volume. Swiping away recent apps is still laggy as fuck. Camera decides to not turn on sometimes.

My galaxy nexus never had these problems. It wasn't as fast or powerful, but at least it did what I told it to.

....Whoa that sounds pretty bad.

Mine sometimes does the ringer volume and media volume thing, but only really only once in a few days. I just hold the power button and manual touch the setting I want though. Still kinda bothers me that a brand new phone can have these type of "old and tattered" problems.

kwy 01-20-2014 08:33 AM

Yeah. I've had a preference for Google phones for the past few years..but at this rate I might try my luck with a Samsung S# or HTC flagship for my next phone. I'm hoping the bugs will be ironed out with the next update. Or maybe my phone was just part of a bad batch.

They sound like hardware problems rather than software. Did you try contacting Google and getting an rma? They're pretty good about it if you give them a call.
