Anyone else notice high battery drain from Android OS? I've had about 20 minutes of screen time so far and I'm down 20% from the OS drain, which racks up about 45% so far. Apparently it's the Keep Awake time and Updating to Google Play Services 4.1.32 is the fix, but hasn't helped me so far.

I'm getting consistent full day usage out of one charge. Might be some settings you need to tweak.

kcl38 01-21-2014 01:15 PM

Had trouble consistently connecting to USB for charging. Phone also has 1 dead pixel that I've found so I'm exchanging it based on that

How long is the cable attached to the pad? and is there only a usb cable available for it no cable for outlet?

It comes with a micro usb cable. You just plug in the pad to the phone charger and place your phone on the pad and it starts to charge.

if its plugged in, it has a red LED to indicate power. if you place your phone on it, a green LED turns on to indicate that it is charging.

looks like this (taken with a shitty iPod camera)

Some days. I'm on stock 4.4.2, rooted. Only constant running apps I have are Facebook, Line, Kakao, and Whatsapp. Some days i'll get 18 hours, some days 8.

I also noticed Adaway will sometimes fail to properly auto update (does so daily). It will keep trying until I manually fix it. This massively drains battery when I don't notice it.

Try to go settings > Apps
scroll right to Running and try to Stop apps?

Google Search been running for 5.5hrs and my battery dropped 40%.. :suspicious:.. recharged and now im getting good battery life again...

StylinRed 01-21-2014 04:06 PM

i've been noticing some excellent battery times lately, i've had minimal use recently and mainly bluetoothing music to my car to and from work/class and i'm getting 4days+ between charges :buttrock:

yogenfruz 01-21-2014 04:14 PM

By no means has my battery been "poor", I was at 60% by the time I threw it on the charger today at 5:00, and I had about 2 hours of screen time since taking it off at 7:30 this morning. Just confused about the Android OS thing. I restarted the phone and I'll see if that changes it.

!Yaminashi 01-21-2014 08:53 PM

I have to say I was hesitant about switching from my HTC one, but I really love the Nexus 5. This is the snappiest phone I've ever used, but the only thing I miss is a good speaker :(
I'm finding that the battery life is pretty damn good contrary to what reviewers said. I'm usually getting about 16 hours with about 40% left at the end of the day, screen on time is around 2 hours usually and that's normal usage for me

!MiKrofT 01-21-2014 09:08 PM

^My battery life is pretty much the same ad yours for once.

Drift_Monkey 01-22-2014 11:53 AM

I have a problem with the nexus 5 vibrate motor. It feel like its loose and sounds cheap.
Kinda sounds like a winding gear when have the touch feedback when typing.

I called google about getting a RMA, however they can't guarantee that my complaint is a defect and they may charge me for it.

Anybody else with a similar issue?

kevin7352 01-22-2014 12:03 PM

I have a N4 and I have the same issue. The vibration is horrible. It's weak and you can hear loose gears inside. I searched around and it seems to be a common problem with them. Maybe it's one of the things LG cheaped out on?

BrRsn 01-22-2014 12:06 PM

same issue on my N4 and N5

when you shake it you can hear a faint clicking

Anyone break the screen on their N5? Dropped it and the whole bottom corner shattered. Recommend a place/price to fix?

Ebay! But the glass and fix it yourself. Usually most place will charge at least $200 which is like half of the Nexus 5.

My replacement Nexus 5 sounded like that when I first got it when it was on stock Android 4.4. Once I upgraded to 4.4.1/4.4.2 the vibration algorithm was improved and it feels perfect now.

Ronin 01-22-2014 07:20 PM

My Nexus 5 came with a faulty cable. Wouldn't charge all day. Then I went to NCIX, got a new one and it charges in no time.

Battery life seems...just okay, so far.

SkinnyPupp 01-22-2014 07:57 PM

If battery life is "just okay" compared to your iphone, something is wrong

!Yaminashi 01-22-2014 08:38 PM

I'd have to agree with Skinny. I get pretty amazing battery life on the Nexus 5.

Give it a few days.

The faint clicking is probably the buttons shifting around a bit.

!MiKrofT 01-22-2014 08:58 PM

Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 accessories are 25% off. Bit the bullet and ordered the Bumper Case in black.

Kaolinite 01-22-2014 11:21 PM
