My best guess is they're afraid of generating too much anticipation because their initial supply won't meet the demand. I've heard the Nexus 4 launch last year was ridiculous due to low supply.

Well if you're willing to update your credit card address to a US one, ship the phone to a US address, and vpn your internet connection then I'm sure you can order one.

Yeah I dont get what's with manufacturers and the top of the phone headphone jack. It makes more sense for it to be on the bottom IMO

Getting a pre-paid US credit card and shipping to ship happens, etc might be easier.

Korean phones do this more often it seems. All my HTC phones and iphone and WinMo phones going back 10 years have had it on the top. It's not as big a deal as the headphone port, but I don't like it. It is too easy to hit the volume button on the other side when trying to press the power button.

Ive heard that ppl are saying those pics are just renders and not photos because the alignment of the camera from the side and back pic don't match.
