Gravity screen is a pretty awesome app. It's good for those times when you keep receiving texts and dont feel like continuously pressing the power button

!Yaminashi 03-21-2014 04:23 PM

Your cousin has issues. How can you lose 20 micro usb cables?

StylinRed 03-21-2014 09:19 PM

lol thats after losing many of mine and his which caused me to get them bulk ;)

Does it use a lot of battery?

!Yaminashi 03-22-2014 01:01 AM

It's hard to say. I left it on for the evening yesterday just to get a feel for how I liked it. At bed time I checked my battery stats and it said that gravity screen used 5% which was more than I expected for the duration of time I had it activated.

I don't think I'll keep using it as after your set timeout duration is up, while in a call you have to press the power button to turn on the screen. Pulling the phone away from your face does nothing with gravity screen activated because gravity screen thinks that after x minutes your sensors should be off.

I think it does. Especially for a heavy user with the screen turning on and off. I think i lost about two hours or more of battery life. I love the app, but as it is I need my battery so the the app is off right now.

!MiKrofT 03-22-2014 03:31 PM

Hmm. Guess I'll skip it.

!Yaminashi 03-22-2014 04:36 PM

I really wish devs were able to code an app that allows us to have knock on without having to root and flash a different kernel.
I would pay good money for that app

Just root it already :P

!Yaminashi 03-22-2014 11:28 PM

I honestly haven't rooted yet because I'm too lazy to go back and set everything up again :p

this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ock.knock.plus says its compatible with the n5

Been playing with this app for the day:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...edisplay&hl=en

It's great. If you join the app's Google+ group you can have access to the beta version as well which is much better. The beta one can detect when the phone is in your pocket and it won't light up your screen. However, it will come on when you take the phone out of your pocket (like the moto x).

Pretty minimal battery drain so far as well on a non-amoled screen since you can set how long it shows up on your screen for.

!Yaminashi 03-23-2014 06:48 PM

^It looks like that overrides whatever lockscreen you're using?

When you get a notification and it lights up the screen then yes it will replace your lockscreen. But once the notification is dismissed or the app times out, then your lockscreen returns as usual when you press the power button to turn on the screen. Since it uses kitkat's immersive mode, you can swipe down from the top to unhide your status bar as well.

The beta one has an option to completely replace your lockscreen or use your existing wallpaper as well.

I don't know how well this app co-exists with a pattern/pin/password lock screen since I don't use one. I use Smart App Protector and selectively lock apps instead because I got annoyed at having to enter a pattern/pin/password every time I turn on my phone.

is there a fix/solution to the maps route calculation hanging? is it even a common issue?

tried using the maps function twice this past week but the route calculation would just hang for about 5mins before popping up with a solution (really simple routes too)

the weird thing is is that when i search for a location the maps already gives me an eta but when clicking on it to show the route it just hangs

i was about to time it just now to see exactly how long it would take but now its coming out with routes immediately when i search for a location
and yes each time my location was already locked down

yogenfruz 04-10-2014 07:55 AM

Might just be you, I haven't seen a similar issue yet.

Anybody have issues with their stock keyboard? I swear, 4 of us all bought the phone around launch, and just recently all of our keyboards have been stopping or glitching out around the same time.

I've tried Swiftkey but I really like stock better for some reason.

shit I thought it was just me. I have the same problem. Bought around launch and recently (last couple weeks) the keyboard reboots itself/disappears for a minute.

There was an update to the stock keyboard this weekend. Seemed to fix it, no problems now.
