hey guys, I need this slimport adapter in the link here, can I get it locally anywhere ?
I had originally seen the MHL adapter but googling a bit it says this SlimPort is made specifically for Nexus 5's and works a lot better and simpler than the MHL samsung ones, is this correct ?

http://www.amazon.ca/SP1003-SlimPort...nexus+slimport

what I'm doing is hookinh up my nexus 5 up to my Pioneer AppRadio 3 unit so it works like this

looks like Memory Express has one, but not the same brand...

are the differences in brands major ? I'd rather pay good money for one that works perfectly as opposed to cheaping out and having issues

New camera update is pretty cool, and had a way better UI than the original. The new lens blur shots are weird at first but can make some pretty nice shots.

^Does it still save images to the original gallery? Or do you have to use the photos app?

yogenfruz 04-17-2014 11:13 PM

Mine are going to the Gallery still instead of Google Photos. After some playing around with it though, the app definitely has it's downfalls: no white balance/contrast and the camera button takes up about 1/5 or the screen; it shows the proper aspect ratio, but just looks clunky. Hopefully it'll be updated again and make a few changes.

What should I be paying for a used one that isn't blacklisted? 300?

SkinnyPupp 04-18-2014 07:37 PM

I am thinking of selling my 16GB white one if you're interested. I want to get one that works with 4G here. PM me once you figure out what you want to pay for one if you're interested, I'll cover shipping.

Offer is open to all regulars.

Some apps are not working when I changed carriers.
Anyone else experience this issue or know how to correct this?

This is just one of the many apps like this

FYI, its the Koodo (telus network)

Has anyone else found that DashClock stopped working? My lockscreen doesn't display any of the extensions at all. Rebooting and reinstalling DashClock didn't help. No changes to the phone aside from app updates.

!Yaminashi 04-23-2014 09:28 PM

^I had that when I updated one of the calendar extensions last week.
You might have to go back into every extension and re-initiate all of your settings manually

Thanks for the reply. Got it working again after fiddling around with the settings.

How come the speaker and the mic is so bad on the Nexus 5? When my friend send my voice message though Wechat and what's app it sounded very muffle and quiet same thing when I send them a voice message. But as soon as I go back to my S4 everything is fine......

Peek doesn't work half the time, and I had noticeably better battery life on Cataclysm.

R5x 04-29-2014 09:28 PM

I've just switched from Cataclysm to Paranoid for the hell of it. Been on Cataclysm since I got the Nexus 5.

Didn't bother with peek. Just running it as if I have stock Android but using the new notification system with floating windows. Works great so far for those times when I'm watching a clip on YouTube and I get a message from hangouts/whatsapp that I want to reply to.

Probably will be making the switch tomorrow, already downloaded the rom :)

what kernel are you on?

Im running cataclysm with Faux123 r16

R5x 04-30-2014 06:41 PM

I'm using the latest test kernel for franco, so t48. I honestly find very little difference between all the kernels I've tried (faux, trinity, elementalx, franco) as far as smoothness and battery life..except stock kernel which was horrid on battery life.

I've noticed that with Paranoid Android, I've had unusually high Google Play Services drain today (almost all attributed to NLPWakelock). Not sure if it coincided with the Google Search update I installed this morning as well. Usually this wakelock is < 10 mins after 15 hours for me. Today I'm at 48 min wakelock after 9 hours.

good to know...i have the franco app as well so going to franco is not a problem

The Play Services wake is bothering the hell out of me. gonna go back to cataclysm soon if I can't find a solution or fix for this on XDA

I prefer to leave the location on high accuracy. It was fine on cat.

That's what I thought as well. But I reverted to a nandroid I had for cataclysm and problem was still there the moment I updated my Google Search app.
I narrowed it down. It's not a rom problem. It's the new Google Search 3.4.16.11 update that rolled out last Wednesday. The inclusion of that parking location thing (and god knows what else) has caused the Google Play Services wakelock to go crazy even if you disable location reporting and history now.

I uninstalled the update on cataclysm and on PA and it fixed it in both cases. Either do that, or disable Google Now.

This makes perfect sense. Can't really downgrade search doe?

R5x 05-05-2014 12:58 AM

Well for now you can just uninstall the update and allow the app to revert to factory version. For me that was 3.3.11.1 which was bundled with the gapps I flashed. Not sure what to do eventually. Will probably have to live with it unless Google rolls out another search update that fixes it. Doubt it though.

I'm surprised I couldn't find anyone on XDA complaining about it.

Anyone else noticing weirdly high battery drain from the new Facebook app? I was using my phone a lot less than normal yesterday, but Facebook accounted for ~60% of my battery drain through the day with about 9 hours of keep awake time...
