Yeah I just got one from eBay. I bought the whole front assembly (Screen+digitizer+frame) so I didn't need any adhesive.

Haven't been following this thread. Sorry if its repost/already answered

Is anyone else having problem with their data dropping from time to time? Phone calls still work, but data is dropped for a short period of time. Notification shows LTE with 0 bars. ITs not my specific location because I get this everywhere.

Running stock android 4.4.4

Wiped my phone and flashed the factory images today.
So far not really seeing any changes from the 2nd developer preview that has been out for the past few weeks. Apparently wifi battery drain was fixed but functionally it's pretty much the same.
Other than that, still loving Lollipop! Runs great on n5.

I hope the Purity Rom devs switch to it, because that's the only rom I ever want to use on this phone.

^i downgraded from note 3, bought an n5 from another member here

i gotta say im pretty satisfied coming from vanilla android noob.. gets me through 17 hrs with 2hrs and 48 mins of screen time and still have 20% battery..
its no phablet battery capacity but im surprise i didnt have to compromise much from note 3 usage, running fb, instagram, twitter, youtube and google now with 60% of my day on lte and the rest on wifi

I can't imagine why anyone would buy something else within the same specs/size range... It'd probably half the price of any competing product, if not more

Sorry for the newb question here.
My N5 is rooted and running Cataclysm ROM right now (4.4.1). I want to run and try Lollipop 5.0.

Do I have to unroot and update to 4.4.4 Kitkat to get the OTA 5.0 update?
Can I just flash the factory image of 5.0 via TWRP?

Thanks

Nope neither.
You will never get the OTA update while on a custom rom, unless you mean you flash a stock 4.4.4 Kit Kat rom. But there would be no reason to do that since you can flash Lollipop directly instead of going through an upgrade path.
You also cannot flash a factory image via TWRP.

Download one of the packaged lollipop roms and flash in TWRP. You may run into problems if you don't do a full wipe. You may also run into sd card issues because it's mounted differently in lollipop. There's fixes for it but it involves root.

The factory Lollipop image for your N5 can be downloaded here:

https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

Instructions to flash it to Lollipop can also be found at the above link.

use TWRP and just download the many stock and custom roms available for N5... 5.0 is out, these things will be pumped out rather quickly

Thanks, for the responses guys.

I have TWRP and rooted.
So flashing one of the 5.0 Roms in XDA will get me Lollipop?
I just want the stock Android feel. I want to get future updates for Lollipop.

Which ROM would you guys suggest for me to flash?
I also want to run Franco Kernel with it. Is this possible?

If you are running a phone with an unlocked bootloader, then yes its legit

Id recommend a full wipe as this is a pretty big update, so fire up the images instead.

Flashing any of those roms will get you lollipop, most should be stock

If you want to run franco, i suggest reading his thread and see the results or even the rom's thread.

Since you are rooted, you will need to use the compiled zips from developers to get updates.

or, you can just kill root and run the factory

All my devices are currently Vanilla.

May root again later on...

How do I kill root to run factory 5.0?
Will I be unrooted and have a lock bootloader after?

What's going to be the difference if I follow the steps in this link in comparison with just flashing one of the 5.0 ROMS in xda developers via TWRP?

Turns out my Wifi and Bluetooth issues are a hardware problem 100%.... I know that because I spent days dicking around trying different roms with different software, fixed the problem for a little bit, then it always comes back... Google offered to replace my device with another "refurbished restored to factory conditions" device.... I told them to fck off, and didn't want another dude's spit shined lemon
so no wifi, no bluetooth.... guess I can live with that, maybe I should try LG's warranty instead of Google, not sure how that works since I bought from Google store..

Gave up iPhone years ago, probably gonna go back for stability... because every single Android phone I've had since then has had issues, mostly software but now hardware too,and I'm the simplest phone user, calls and texts only... so if my phone can't even do that, what's the fckin point

Flash this one in twrp: [ROM] [STOCK] Android 5.0 LRX21O - Stock/Fla… | Google Nexus 5 | XDA Forums

If you flash from factory images from Google you will lose everything on your phone because the scripts will do a full wipe (although it's recommended you do a full wipe anyways for lollipop). The factory images from Google also require you to use them through fastboot. If you don't know how to do that then stay away.

Don't bother with a custom kernel if you want to still get updates to the OS from Google. They are apparently changing the way OTA updates will work from here on out and a custom kernel *may* prevent the update process from happening.

I flashed the factory images from Google instead the one from Xd developers. I uploaded everything to the cloud, so no worries there.
I want TWRP back though.

How do I do this? Do I need to root again?
