It's done by design.
Google stock android OTA updates are always rolled out slowly so they can stop the updates from causing too much damage in case any deal-breaking bugs pop up. I think the first day, 1% of all users will get an update notice and it gradually increases from there.

Consider yourself lucky if you get the OTA update the first day. There's also no point mashing the Check Update button because it gets ignored apparently.

So I just updated to lollipop. Everything seems to be running smoothly but I'm very annoyed with the new interruption mode. Its the replacement for silent mode. Now, I can't get light notifications without an app not vibrating. Does anyone know how to make apps like gmail, Whatsapp silent but have blinking notifications?

Anyone know if any screen protectors are available for the Nexus 5 that are the same/similar to the SGP ultra optics from the Galaxy S2 period?

What I liked about those was the matte finish was designed in such a way that they gave the clarity of a clear protector but with reduced glare.

Having run Lollipop for a few days, I'm starting to get annoyed. I've had gmail and facebook crash repeatedly, not been able to open Gmail at all, sluggish response when switching between apps, and turning on and off the ringer in my pocket, thanks to the volume rocker now being the only way to switch to vibrate.

Also, for whatever reason bluetooth music in my car tends to cut out, and my music app no longer saves where I left off, so I can't press play on my headunit, I have to open the app.

And overall, what's with all the double tapping/swiping? Double tap a notification, double swipe down to get the useful menu...really annoying.

Lame.

You could always download the power toggles app, throw a notification widget in there.

I use that to switch to vibrate if I dont feel like using the volume keys

^ It's a good workaround for now, but people (I'm sure a lot of the userbase) are going to want the old Silent/Vibrate modes back, as well as priority mode.

Is anyone's phones laggy as hell after updating to Lollipop? Apps like Facebook take a while to load and crash randomly now. The keyboard sometimes doesn't pop out when I'm trying to type. Hoping the lag will go away but it's been a couple days already

My only suggestion is I noticed now that there's so many apps running in the background. Even rebooting won't clear them. Once I cleared them it stopped lagging.

There seems to be a memory leak in lollipop. It gets noticeably laggier after a few days without restarting. "System" ram footprint seems to grow and not release its used memory. That might explain what people are seeing.

I think I'm going to just wait for 5.0.1 or 5.1 (whichever is first to arrive). The amount of issues I hear about, and amount of gripes I have with the software already just don't make it worth it for me right now.

The nexus is actually been made in the past by a few different companies.

The nexus 4 and 5 are made by LG. all the Nexus phones are "google" phones

are you familiar with zipping/unzipping files? Cuz the update file is usually compressed in some form and then needs to be uncompressed/extracted and cached in a temporary location somewhere while it updates...all the while needing more space while it's installing

This applies to just about anything, including anything you install on your computer
