I find my battery life is hit or miss since the update.
But I'm wondering if maybe it's an app that's causing it?

jinxcrusader 12-06-2014 08:26 PM

My nexus has been very sluggish as of recently. First few days of the OTA update it worked great.

Nowadays my default google keyboard disappears while i'm in the middle of typing... and apps suddenly crash. Seems to be a memory leak causing this. This sucks

Coren 12-06-2014 08:37 PM

I find this update has been pretty bad.

First few days everything was working great, but then it started to feel sluggish and apps crashing. Reboot the phone and things were fine or another few days so I have to constantly reboot every 3 or 4 days.

Three days ago the auto on screen sleep stopped working. The phone wouldn't screen off unless I hit the power button. Rebooted and it was fine.

Same thing happened the day after and had to reboot again.

Getting pretty annoyed at these bugs. Waiting for 5.0.1 OTA to push out to phones. Hopefully it fixes these issues

!Yaminashi 12-06-2014 09:28 PM

Feels like Google rushed this one :(

Teriyaki 12-06-2014 09:51 PM

Yea. It feels like my phone just.. "hangs" and "lags" competely out of the blue after a few days on lollipop. I hope its just some incompatible apps that need some updating that'll iron itself out. Its getting annoying

CRS 12-06-2014 10:13 PM

I remember that when the update came, I was pretty excited. Everything seemed to work like it was supposed to but for the past week, my phone has been shitting the bed.

Keyboard will randomly minimize and it won't open up again or it does sometimes but after a 5 second delay. Apps will randomly close and cause the phone to freeze or lag up.

It's almost to the point where at times it is better used as a paper weight.

Tim Budong 12-06-2014 10:16 PM

my phone doesn't really lag

however.. been hit with this shit. not very good. anyways. its "Android OS" old apps not quite ready for 5.0 caused this
cleared a lot of this and then it went away

trancehead 12-07-2014 10:42 AM

thank god i did not update to 5.0

Expresso 12-07-2014 12:51 PM

Then your missing out! All you are hearing is the bad. Nobody with issues will post how it's been running fine.

Update has been fine for me and the material design is refreshing.

!Yaminashi 12-07-2014 01:41 PM

I agree the material design is a nice refresh. I personally don't experience any lag, just inconsistent standby times.

Tim Budong 12-08-2014 07:24 AM

The lag and the shot battery life is annoying. I never really noticed this back in Vancouver simply due to the fact that im not always on my phone. Im in HK now with the phone and the AndroidOS bug is the first thing that stood out...

What else is killing the battery is the consist use of Google Music, the media is loaded to the device itself to reduce the power consumption.

However, I do believe that the weaker than usual signal in certain places..or the fact that a congested network will cause the phone to work harder to get a signal...

ughhhh... difficult to pinpoint the real problem.

with that said, i friggin love lollipop. the material design and the new lockscreen notifications is unmatched!

SkinnyPupp 12-08-2014 07:31 AM

I only turn on locations when I need to use it.. otherwise it burns a lot of battery

I find that my phone is trying to use the location services a lot more while im here in HK.. always forget to turn it off

again..its something i never noticed back in vancouver as i simply do not need to be on my phone haha

I have this sometimes. Proof that Google rushed this one big time

Gh0stRider 12-11-2014 10:27 AM

production has stopped for the nexus5.

Quote:

According to TechRadar, who reportedly spoke with a Google spokesperson following the removal of the Red and White color options for the Nexus 5 on Google Play, the company stated that production of the device has stopped, and that if you want a Nexus 5, you better act fast.

Stating, “Once they are gone, they’re gone,” it comes as no surprise that this day would inevitably come. Sadly, we had hoped to see the Nexus 5 stick around for at least a few more months, given the Nexus 6 is simply too large of an option for some consumers.

At the time of this writing, the Nexus 5 is sold out on Google Play in both 16GB and 32GB. If you need one, you can try eBay and Amazon.

It was fun while it lasted, Nexus 5.

Update: Gizmodo received additional word on the Nexus 5’s fate, with a Google representative saying that it will be available through Q1 2015. After that, who knows.

Do you have Google Now on? If not, then that is crazy bad drain; but if so, then I'm not surprised.

I find that with location on battery saving and Google Now enabled, I average around 50 minutes to 1 hour wake lock total for Google Play Services on an average 15-16 hour day (40% wifi/60% LTE).
Google Search also wake locks for about 10-20 mins daily as well.

It's ever since that Google Play Services update that rolled out half a year ago. It's been downhill since then for battery life with Google Now enabled.

Its with Google Now On... i dont think i've turned it off. It wasn't a concern back in Vancouver. As it wouldn't drain this much

now that im not in town..where reception and congestion is an issue on trains.. yea its killing the juice faster. Doesn't help that I need my music..
Not gonna let this bother me anymore ..... this is why a 10200 xioami battery pack is needed in HK no matter what type of phone someone has.

too lazy to root and try other things... hahahaha

Despite rumors suggesting that Google's wonderful $350 Nexus 5 had met its untimely demise, we've confirmed with Google that the Nexus 5 isn't gone for good. At least not yet.

!Yaminashi 12-12-2014 08:46 PM

I think they need to keep it around until they can provide a workaround to the Nexus 6. Not everyone wants to carry a phone that large, but tons want stock android.

Tim Budong 12-12-2014 09:49 PM

will continue to bitch about battery life haha

RCubed 12-12-2014 10:15 PM

Flashed Cataclysm 5.0 a few days ago.
Best battery performance from all the 5.0 roms so far.
